I am now within days of completeing my website in which I intend to have hosted by PSU.
There's probably a simple answer to this. I have chosen a Joomla template which is not on the PSU template choice list. Where are the directions on how to upload the template and it's components?
Thanks.

Just wondering why I can not open the link. I have a PSU store. When I click on it, I get this message. Sorry, but only users granted special access can read topics in this forum

(It has happened other times as well). Yet, I am told to go to the forums and get answers to my questions. What gives?

Whoa! That's news to me! Shocked

Have you alerted PSU to this problem? If not, please send him a PM and I'm sure he'll check it out for ya.

He does not like for me to PM him. (It isn't like I PM him everyday or even every week lol). Can you do it for me? Thank you in advance.

Where are you currently hosting and building your website right now? When you host with us it should be the same process as you are doing now.

yellowrose you should have access now. Of all the times you have PMed and emailed me you never mentioned you did not have access to the hosting and support forums.

I'm sure it's not that he doesn't like for YOU or anyone else to pm him. It *isn't* a PERSONAL thing. Understand that he receives a TON of pm's daily from ALOT of people.

Many times, the questions he receives have an answer somewhere on the PSU stores board.

There are several ways to find those answers....search the PSU Stores forum; scroll through the topics; or POST a question if the first two don't seem to find your answer.

I see that he quickly fixed your access now.

I'm sorry but, sometimes folks forget that admins are people too and are deserving of a day off or a little personal time, which they rarely get. Nor do folks seem to understand how many times the same question is asked.

No ma'am....I cannot do it for you. I have no access here. I am only a volunteer.

Thank you, Sylvia. He has fixed it for me. Now maybe I can read/post and see the forums. I know he has to have time off just like other people. Maybe I should not have ever PM'd him but I never did it very often and I needed answers and solutions.

Thank you again, PSU and Sylvia.

PSU- Actually I've installed IIS and have been trying to test on one of my own home-networked computers. I'm having a little difficulty tweaking the PHP ini file and building the correct component paths, but I'm sure I'll work it out. However, I really need to decrease my dependance upon eBay to some extent, so I'm ready to take the plunge.

I am also receiving the same error message when I try to access the above link.

Thanks.

grants-tomb,

are you building a PSU store on your local network?

Have you by any chance tried Xammp? (I may have misspelled that, lol)

You can also visit the http://www.joomla.org for much info on local installations of joomla, perhaps you'll find some insights there?

I'm sure PSU will be along soon to correct your access to the PSU boards. Very Happy

You should really try to setup apache or xammp as Sylvia suggested. If you are looking to setup your site yourself with Joomla and install components yourself you will probably want our Advance Hosting. With the PSU Store hosting option. Joomla, Virtuemart and the needed components are already installed.

The links mentioned above are links to our hosting and support forum. They are for our Web Hosting customers. I just gave you access. It might help you set things up at home quicker.

Sorry, I don't seem to be comminicating well.

Before I retired 3 years ago, my profession was web site administrator for several government web sites. It became my habit to build and test all site pages and functions prior to public release. So, in answer to above enquiries, I do not intend to host my own site. I was merely doing my own design changes and component placement before going public and the only way to do this was by having a PHP loaded server.

Thanks for your help and support. This looks like a great place to host my site.

We might not be communicating well either. We suggested xammp because it will setup an testing and developing environment similar to the one when you go for public release. It installs apache, php and mysql. We use apache as a web server so if you set up your site with IIS their might be a few more tweaks or settings you need to change before you go public.

Since you are building the site first on your machine when you sign up for hosting you will probably want advance hosting instead of the PSU store since it looks like you are installing some 3rd party components.
