Before I retired 3 years ago, my profession was web site administrator for several government web sites. It became my habit to build and test all site pages and functions prior to public release. So, in answer to above enquiries, I do not intend to host my own site. I was merely doing my own design changes and component placement before going public and the only way to do this was by having a PHP loaded server.
Thanks for your help and support. This looks like a great place to host my site. |
I agree & apologize for any miscommunication. I also was a systems analyst in another life (LOL) and so saw what you were trying to do, as I've done it myself.
We weren't misunderstanding that you were going to host your own site, but rather suggesting a local server that you could use to install a local version of the ecommerce pkg we are using for the
PSU stores. The one I see used most by the joomla folks is called XAMPP (finally spelled it right)

Although, joomla mentions an alternative, WAMP, here:

Using PHP, MYSQL and APACHE, you could build your store in the same environment as how it will be hosted, and keep problems/necessary changes to a minimum.
Again, my apologies for any confusion.
