BENTONVILLE, Ark. - A Pine Bluff woman who sold several fake pieces of art claiming they were by Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso _ for a total of about $11,000 _ faces up to 60 years in prison on theft charges.
Donna Lynn Payne, 60, has pleaded not guilty to three theft charges.
A probable cause affidavit says Payne advertised a Dali work on eBay last year. A Rogers man was the high bidder at $2,750. The piece was supposed to be an original drawing in ink and charcoal.
The man sent Payne a cashiers check for $2,814 for the artwork.
The two conducted further transactions, at least one that included a work purported to be by Pablo Picasso. In all, the man sent Payne $10,978, court records show.
Payne was being held in the Benton County jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
