I'm thinking about selling baby clothes on yahoo. But I searched closed listings, and not a single one of them had sold! Am I searching wrong, or is that really true?! I guess fee-bay is worth it if nothing sells on yahoo.

Stumped,
Amy Kay

Amy: Selling baby clothes is a hit or miss thing. Not too sure they are selling any better on feebay and you're paying there too remember. There are many free sites like HiBidder, Ecrater, Blujay, Plunderhere where you can list for free.

Basically, I sell baby clothing also and find that it's a matter of finding the right buyer. I do well with grandparents buying and they will often buy more than one item. But I must say, nothing is really selling worth spit, anywhere. At least with the free sites, you're not paying anything waiting for the right buyer.

You could also look into sites that cater to clothing for dolls for those 0-3 month things. Maybe someone here will know the name of one, I do know someone posted such a site here not too long ago.

The other thing you can try is selling in lots. Especially if you are going to try feebay, you may do better with lots. I keep meaning to do that myself. Good luck!

Hi Amy,

I'm using PoshPoints to sell all of my son's baby clothes.

http://www.poshpoints.com/default.aspx?ref=1204

You get 15 free points just for signing up, so you can do some free shopping to start with. As for selling baby clothes, I have listed 7 items of my son's clothing in the last few days. 6 of them sold within an hour of being listed. The other one will probably sell as soon as I add a picture.

The main site that I sell on for most other items is Wagglepop. There is a really great seller there who specializes in baby and toddler clothes. She managed to sell about a thousand dollars worth of clothes in her first month and about two thousand dollars worth in her second month. (That was also when the site was brand new.) I have no idea how she did it because I'm not very good when it comes to trying to sell clothes. Smile

Good luck to you!

Angelsong: I've looked at Poshpoints before and can't seem to figure out just what a point equals? No money changes hands correct? Just merchandise is exchanged for points. Interesting concept and I actually see a few things there I would be interested in. Hmmmmm Thanks

A point equals roughly a dollar, but you can ask however many points you think you can get for something. It seems that people will spend more in points to get things than they would spend if real money was involved. (I've easily sold items for 3 points that I'd never be able to get $3. for on any other site. I'll be posting future items for more points because 3 seems to be too low based on the response that I saw.)

If you see things that you'd be interested in, you should sign up and grab 'em. You get 15 free points and the sellers pay shipping, so you can get something for nothing. I used my free 15 points to get an item that I can easily sell for good money in my Wagglepop store.

FPD - I'm also 'new' to PoshPoints - haven't even gotten to play yet!!!

Angelsong gives great detail - when I find time to play, I'll gladly share more!!

I agree on the original topic replies - I have a few baby clothes, and they don't do as well as my other clothes. I don't carry very much inventory for them, and mine didn't move on ebaY when I listed there either.

I suppose many 'figure out' that babies are messy and if ya can save dimes buying 'used' - go for it!! Very Happy Very Happy

Wow, adult clothes sell better than baby clothes? I'm surprised. How do you list them? Just size, right? I have no desire to spend lots of time with a measuring tape measuring inseams and armlengths, etc. Anyone buy nice clothes at garage sales and resell them? How do you keep your inventory?

I'm so excited! Thanks for alll the info so far!

AmyKay - I see a bit of everything! On Yahoo, I'm twoboysandtoys (if ya wanna look me up)!

Essentially, I only list the size and tell folks to ask if they want more information. I too did not want to spend a lifetime measuring pit to pit, etc. I do get questions at times about inseam, waist, etc...

If you go to Yahoo, go to advance search, then select by Yahoo ID, and input me, you'll be able to get 6 months worth of my 'sales' on the site.

You can also click-thru here: TWOBOYSandTOYS-Yahoo

Once you are 'there', if you look to the left, you can quickly see my break-down of what I've sold. Again, this data is there by seller, by category for 6 months.

I sure hope this helps you! I have a ton of patience - as you'll see - and list on some other sites too...but this will give you some 'insight' into my sold experience on Yahoo. And - it is FREE (one of my favorite words)!! Wink

Hi Amy,

I down want to sound like a downer, but please don't get too excited until you find some types of clothing that do sell well. Clothing is not neccessarily and easy category to make a lot of profit on. In general, new clothing does much better than used clothing, and designer brands sell better than other stuff. I have done O.K. with things like larger sized mens clothing because it seems like many larger men do not enjoy going out shopping and prefer to shop online. So you can experiment and see what sells well for you, but you may not want to go out and spend a lot of money on garage sale clothes and spend a lot of time trying to sell it until you see what works and what doesn't.

Very good points above me - you have to test and see what works and what doesn't!! Very Happy Very Happy
