Despite Yahoo's lack of effort, I'm still doing more sales than
all the other alternative sites combined.

I tried Overstock and still don't understand why sellers would
choose Overstock over Yahoo. Considering their lack of traffic
Overstock is overpriced. Yahoo listings fees starting at 5 cents
are a bargain.

Yahoo v.s. eBay stores. If you have a huge inventory, I could
see going with eBay stores instead of Yahoo. Most sellers would
be better off listing fewer items on Yahoo.

I emailed Yahoo inquiring about their lack of promotions, banners,
and links to their auctions. I asked if eBay had bought out Yahoo
Auctions. Yahoo's response was that Yahoo Auctions is not affiliated
with eBay and Yahoo has big plans for their auctions in 2005.

I don't know what the "big plans" would be. I would be happy with
banners on Yahoo Mail and Yahoo homepage linking to their auctions.

Yeah I haven't heard a lot of great things about Overstock recently, and triplexotica was having a lot of trouble with them in fact. I think it's good you got a discussion going about yahoo, I'll be considering it for our store because I imagine it commands a bit of traffic. I'm not sure why Yahoo doesn't have it's own thread, amybe it's because this site is goin for underdogs (I root for the underdogs myself) but if I were you I'd request a Forum for it. Talk to you soon

Good point as to why there is not a yahoo auction thread here..I tried their auction site last year (suring summer) and had no results...It might have been the time of year...For me it's slow everywhere at this time...Should we take a poll and see who is listing there?...How many yahoo users do we have here?

Just found the response from Yahoo. I misquoted the response didn't
say "big plans" it said "many plans".

Either way, Yahoo is the #1 Portal and there are links to Yahoo Auctions
from Yahoo shopping. If more sellers started listing and promoting their
Yahoo Auctions again, I believe Yahoo auctions could make a come back.

Response from Yahoo:
--------------------------------------------
>>>Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Auctions.

We appreciate your inquiry. Yahoo! Auctions has no affiliation with
eBay. Although Yahoo! Auctions allows sellers to use PayPal as a
payment option, PayPal is not affiliated with Yahoo! Auctions.

We greatly appreciate your comments and suggestions to advertise our
site in order to increase seller and buyer participation. We are always
looking for ways to drive more traffic to Yahoo! Auctions and will be
sure to keep your comments in mind as we continue to make improvements
to our service.

We have many plans in store for Yahoo! Auctions this year, so we invite
you to keep checking our Announcements page for the latest updates at:

http://auctions.yahoo.com/phtml/auc/us/promo/announcements.html

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

Regards,

Evan

I am in total agreement with you Elgato! Being one who has sold for years. I checked my records. May is a slow month!!!!! I have sold on Yahoo for many years. I normally have over 1000 auctions up. However, with my upcoming move I have cut back to around 200 to keep it under control! My sales are slow but steady! You can always find me under Antique books Granny_14801

Hey Gold,
I have never checked into Yahoo auctions never really thought of it I guess, I know you said sales were slow at this point but I was just wondering if they were a fairly steady site as far as traffic and recieveing bids.... Right now I am in the mist of revamping my business to start selling coins and collectables, I tried a few on ioffer and had no success at all...and I am sort of weary of listing on feebay again but may have to at some point just to have some things listed....right now I am purchasing some coins and things and am talking to tripleexotica about dealing with him...but he is understandably very buzzzzzyyyyyy...LOL any way just looking for some info on yahoo Thanks....

I've not listed on Yahoo but I have tried searching their auctions in the past. All I got was third party adverts. Not a plus in my books.

This was a few months before Christmas. They have changed the site since then but the auction are listed on the bottom...which makes me wonder. Is the many plans to make it better or to remove the auctions completely. ( Anyone know?

I'm going to go check it out again..if I'm not back in 10 mins....better come looking for me cause I have gotten lost in the ads again!! LOL

Well I'm back. Ads are still there but not as overwhelming. Does look like they have improved in the past year. Wonder why they wouldn't reply to the emails sent? ( Not mine...other forum membrs.)

Maybe it was that they were receiving a lot of the same suggestions that made them change things??

Does definitely look better. So I wonder what their plans are....could be interesting!!
