Amazon.com told US sellers it would raise variable fees and increase Marketplace shipping credits for Books, Music, Movies, Video Games and Software, on May 14, 2007. The shipping-credit increase ranges from $0.39 to $2.51, depending upon the product category and shipping method, and is in response to the USPS postal rate changes going into effect on May 14. The Books, Video Games and Software standard shipping credit will be increased from $3.49 to $3.99. The Music, DVD and VHS standard shipping credit will increase from $2.59 to $2.98. A full breakdown of shipping credits can be found on the Amazon website.

I looked into selling on Amazon, but the fees are higher than at ebay, and they restrict your ability to even attempt sales on certain items. No way I could have a store over there, since you have to be an approved seller for computers.

I buy quite a lot of books and DVD's there. However, their feedback is the pits and I never bother with it - only giving a one line feedback like I would on Ebay. Incidentally, Ebay is instituting basically this same feedback form. One thing they have that Ebay does not...they will cheerfully refund my money if I say I didn't receive an item. No if's ands or jumping thru hoops and no hassle with the seller! I wonder if ebay has that in store for us as well...

If I remember right, this is their second fee raise in a year and the last time they would not allow sellers to raise their shipping prices. I don't sell there but thought it was totally unfair.
