I don't think I would change my shipping costs lower to compete - what I pay is what I pay taking a loss doesn't seem reasonable on shipping |

Being a seller for more years than I can remember at this point, I have seen so much postal rip off. I see books which all know is my Major Malfunction!!!!!! Has been for years!!!!!
1 book - shipping 3.95. There is just NO way it costs that much to ship a book. 2.26. If it is heavy 2.30 to 2.50. If it is super heavy 2.95.
I can ship 11 pounds of books to say Canada for 8.90.
Postal shipping is always added to the items I list. There are no hidden surprises on my auctions! |

What piece of furniture should we move next on the deck of the Titanic? Well, here's another announcement with little to no value. The feature they crow about now, is already displayed in the s.y.i. page...it's generally found under the flat rate shipping heading, and has no more value to me than last night's chewing gum.
Hey eBay...when you finally make an announcement that has REAL value to the average buyer/seller, please feel free to call, email, p.m. or headline it on the Times!
Nonetheless, thanx for passing this little morsel along PSUNITE. |

The other day I was checking out some paperback books on another site. Thinking of buying some in bulk to list at a later time. I saw an interesting book - single paperback for .75 cents ! The shipping on it was 3.95. ?????????????? 1 paperback? shipping 3.95. I pm'd the seller and asked if it was a typo? I rec'd back a message stating "That is how I make my money!" Well, to me that is not a good seller. I have since checked on the book and it is still sitting there. |

I am the same I do not charge handling fees but I would not be willing to pay out postage from my own pocket to ship - unless it is a special item - for charity or a large combo purchase - where I shave down the prices- prices are a little higher in Canada but about the same for heavier |

I have never charge for handling! I feel that if someone finds my items interesting enough to purchase, Why would I charge to handle them, or packaging? I have always had Great comments on my packaging. Never have to go out and purchase it either. You can go to Wal-Mart and they will give you boxes for nothing! |

I believe the high shipping is more of a way for the seller to circumvent Ebay's fees. Can't blame them there. What's the difference to the buyer if they pay .75 for the book and $3.95 for the shipping, or $3 for the book and $1.70 for shipping? Also, it could be they are shipping priority mail for the free boxes?
When I buy, I figure the total of the item and shipping when comparing which item to buy, so it makes no difference to me as long as the end price is okay with me.
I don't sell books, nor do I do this to circumvent fees on what I do sell. Sometimes I do add around .50 for handling. Point is, I think it's just sellers trying to be find a way to help pay for Ebay's price hike, and be able to stay in business. If people don't like their prices, they don't have to purchase. |
