Sad
Well, it looks like I am going to be moving all of my items to Ecrater. Worse part of the whole thing is I built up my Yahoo to 10,118 items.
I have a LONG road ahead of me..

Oh boy..........well YAHOO CANADA WAS A JOKE !

Never had anything sell on Yahoo Canada its a ghost town. Yahoo USA was ok but due to China Exploiters they made it USA only.

Yahoo's partnership with eBay may be part of this , still seems boneheaded

Like really Yahoo was still a top player in USA market and they just give up the ghost like that? Heck its not like the spent much $$$ on development or promotion of Yahoo auctions.

This will be huge for alternative sites !

Is Ebay the ruler? Sorry Im peeved. I hear the same thing happening in satellite radio. One mother company that will control everything. Is that going to by Ebay? Question

"Vladimir Lenin modified classic Marxist theory and argued that capitalism necessarily induced monopoly capitalism - which he also called "imperialism" - in order to find new markets and resources, representing the last and highest stage of capitalism"

late stage capitalism , even Jim Cramer an unabashed capitalist states it frequently on his show that the USA is in late stage capitalism. What happened to competition? Its obsolete....

i have to say im really rather disappointed. i didnt really care for yahoo auctions, but had held out hope that they had enough money and business sense that they would have brought someone on to re-do their auctions rather than close them down. it must have been a drain on their resources.

or maybe they have figured out that people are losing interest in the auction format and would rather just shop in estores.

eeedoggies and eastwood - I so agree. Brand recognition, infrastructure, listings and traffic already 'present' - stinks that they are 'punting'! I also have felt for more than a year, that TODAY - Y truly represented the only REAL competition to ebaY....

lowcoststore - wow....you gotta bunch of items to move. Have you given thought to mrgrabber on iOffer? It 'was' capable of pulling all items from Y and E to the site ---- I only say 'was' as I've not used it in more than a year!

I can not get YSM to function for me, so with 900+ listings, it's one atta time.... Rolling Eyes Cool

Why switch to eCrater and not BidVille?

Bidville/uBid management has not posted an update regarding their transition since August of 2006. The bids have dropped off significantly since uBid took over. The transition seems to be focussed on getting business from BV to uBid, rather than the other way around. They did absolutely nothing when eBayers flocked to the site after several fee increases, and they're doing nothing to get Yahoo Sellers over there now.

BV has always been a closed circuit due to a lack of advertising and things have gotten worse, not better. The second owner squeezed a million dollars out of the stock, then turned it back over to the original owner after falsified listing and store numbers on the home page failed to attract a Buyer. Unfortunately, a good site built up for years by loyal members has been wasted. Unless you promote yourself heavily you won't see any action, and you can do that at any venue.

Then, there's the bullying cheerleaders who squash each and every attempt to enlighten both management and members. BV is a chat site, not an auction site as demonstrated when dozens of business emails and requests for assistance go ignored, while chatboard complaints take top priority. I wouldn't be surprised if BV was next for closure.

I don't think the auction market is running its course. I think its strong. Its Ebay ruining it and dragging it down. Its Ebay with this mind control of we are the only safe one. Bull.
I've had buyers beg me for money back after 5 minutes. I'm afraid I only buy on Ebay. I said honey, we are all from ebay.
Ok, I think we do offer a service. I have kids. I don't want to go to 20 stores for an item. I went to Amazon and found it in less than 3 minutes. I don't waste gas. My Lord its over 3 here now and we are no where near a holiday. 3$. I think we offer seniors, mothers and people who are just worked to death a break in life.
Its this dog gone we want to own everything ethic that Ebay is doing. Its going to cut their own throat. Their fees will put them under and their own- it- all mentality.
Sad, but true.

CuFF, thanks for the info on BidVille. I've only puttered around a bit on Yahoo but have to move somewhere.

ECrater seems pretty popular from the posts - any other place worth checking into?

You're welcome rory! I am not familiar with many, but it's always good to put your eggs into more than one basket. 123bidding is a very young site, but I do know that the owner is dedicated to good customer service and advertising as the site grows. It couldn't hurt to check them out!

Rory,
Cuff’s information on Bidville is good. Last month I asked about Bidville and Cuff along with another poster wrote about their experiences. Knowing I would not make a sale, I went ahead with some listings anyway to get a feel for the traffic. In 3 ˝ weeks I did not get a single view. This is much different than Yahoo, so if your coming from Yahoo to Bidville, your are going to be disappointed.
I make sales every month on eCrater. I started in January, started selling in February. My sales increased in March and then tripled in April. Although last months sales were below a typical Yahoo month, they are getting better.
Although there is traffic on eCrater, I believe that most of my sales are coming from Google Product Search (Froogle). eCrater has an excellent feed to Google.

I agree with the input on eCrater and also that I believe the sales are coming from google Products search.

I started almost the same time as Teela - and am having similar experience - sales each month and some ups/downs...
