I sold about 18 things on Bidville in about 1 month or so. Cant tell me nothing is selling there. Some people are selling there. I also sell on www.ewaey.com too. The owner is dedicated to it and is getting the word out. Smile

Quote: › BV is a chat site, not an auction site as demonstrated when dozens of business emails and requests for assistance go ignored, while chatboard complaints take top priority.

that's true, they do. but my big problem with BV is, it seems like most of the people there insist on paying with paypal & nothing else. even fer $4 items--for which i usually send cash if i buy something that cheap.

sheesh! i dont have this problem on ANY of the other sites i sell on--including ebay!

When I tried BV, I had no luck....but in fairness to those who are looking at alternatives - I didn't give it half the effort of some others. I listed around 40 items, and left them for 60-90 days to 'see'. I did get some views but no sales.

I did not want to invest in a store, as I want a site to 'prove fees worthy' prior to me investing my retirement money - no matter how $$ it is!!

Very Happy Wink

Bidville should rename itself something that shows a shopping site.....also should not make buyers have a hard time registering and also should do the search engines right. if they do these 3 things then they will be the best to sell from because they are much more buyer friendly than sites like ecrater. .. i've heard of this name for a site main street mall.... ummm that could work

Yahoo sucked anyways....too many glitches. This is the 2nd time they screwed their sellers over. Bad juju for Yahoo.

Hi dhearndon,

Based upon your feedback more than half of your items sold came from the same bidder, and most were items selling for $1. No offense, but had that multiple bidder not re-visited your auctions your sales would have been bleak. You also chat on the boards, as do many of your bidders. As I said, BV is a closed circuit. Current managements failure to feed Google/Froogle hurt BV more than the guy that squeezed a million bucks out of it. They've started the feeds again, so maybe that will help, but it may be too late.

How do you feel about the lack of communication from management since August 2006?

This situation with Yahoo makes me sad. I have done pretty well there...but...time to move on, I guess. Blujay has always been a little bit better than ecrater for me, but at the moment I am concentrating on plunderhere. Their customer service is great and they are growing rapidly.

I can't honestly say I did a bunch of searching....just do NOT remember (can't remember this morning, much less back then)!! Embarassed Rolling Eyes

It does have a ton of listings tho so someone must be doing reasonably well - or why would folks stay there? Confused Neutral

I'm new to the forum, but I've been around for awhile. I was one of the sellers who left EB after the LAST fee increase for the stores. I just wanted to throw out another site suggestion for you all to consider.

I moved (thanks to my best friend and fellow jewelry artist) to a smallish, but growing site, called Main Street Mall Online (we lovingly refer to it as "Miz-mo"). It isn't an auction site, but a "real" store. Each store is TOTALLY run by the store owner. No interference, or demands, from the site admin. They have a relatively short, clear and common-sense Code of Conduct for sellers, but otherwise - you pay your (low) store rental ($20.00/month for 100 listings; $30.00/month for 250 listings . . . there are larger packages listed in the information section. This is just to give you a "feel" for the costs.) and you conduct your business with your customers. No listing fees (just your store rental). No final value fees. No picture fees -- you can host your own pix, like on Photobucket, or they will host pix - up to eight. All transactions are between the seller and the buyer. There are several shopping cart options possible. They have an almost-automatic GoogleBase upload system (even I can do it!) Rolling Eyes

The customer service from them is FABULOUS. Can you imagine getting your question answered/problem solved in less than 24 hours? Sometimes within the hour! You get a personal response from the tech support guy very quickly, and that guy really knows what he's doing.

The owners are also Ex - EB sellers who got fed up with all the carp and decided to really do a site like EB should have been.

I could go on and on, but I've written so much already, I'll just give you the address and let you explore on your own. Smile

I've been suggesting Yahoo create fixed priced categories
for Yahoo Groups.

Similar to craigslist, but with the option of shipping
items to other locations.

Havn't sold anything on Yahoo Auctions for months.
All my sales are comming from Yahoo Groups and Craigslist.

The good news (atleast for me): I transfered my Yahoo
auction listings over to groups many months ago.

The bad news. My 600+ feedback will be disapearing
with Yahoo Auctions.

It does have a ton of listings tho so someone must be doing reasonably well - or why would folks stay there?

A very large number of those listings are penny trading cards. BV members have been kept in the dark for the most part. Until recently anyone who complained was bombarded by cheerleaders, and or suspended. The truth about BV and its lack of management has been buried beneath well-meaning pom pom shakers. The truth is, the only way to have good sales at BV is to promote yourself, heavily. Self promotion can be done at any venue.

Most people don't expect to have to do all of their own promoting. And the reality is when you have to do all of your own promoting at a site that charges fee's you're better off at a site that doesn't charge you for the privilege. Then, at least when you have NPB's you don't have to worry about getting a refund. When a site puts your account on hold and sends you 17 emails just to collect .79 there's a problem. When a site fails to answer serious emails regarding charges for a store you thought you closed 3 months ago there's a problem. When a site refuses to support a Seller sponsored sale with a simple banner or announcement on the home page, or doesn't bother making an announcement or update of any kind since last year, then you're dealing with management that has no interest.

I have to give my opinion... after all, everyone knows how opinionated I am Smile

Scenario #1: This makes me seriously think eBay and Yahoo are about to merge... Why does it make sense? They will not be allowed to by the FTC if they both operate an auction site, and are the two most powerful auction companies. That is the only feature that they shared... auctions. With the auctions out of the way in North America, what could the government do to stop them? And, who in the deal would lose? Yahoo cannot possibly make enough ad revenue from auctions to turn a profit, but they can shift all their efforts into competing with Google if they let eBay's side handle them. As for eBay, the whole site has been a train wreck since a year ago, especially when it comes to searching the site. I really don't think the plan to use Yahoo technology has worked, so why not merge and let them do it for eBay?

Scenario 2: Yahoo is the most anti-American company on the web. They are closing the North American sites because they don't generate enough ad revenue, but they are leaving it open for the counterfeit kings in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan? They already have a major stake in Chinese auctions, now they are shifting everything in their own auctions to only operate in the same region? Sounds very greedy and unpatriotic to me, and regardless of the true reasons behind this decision I have just changed my homepage to Google and will never use Yahoo again. That's sad, because I loved their search marketing, without having to worry about click fraud through AdWords.

Scenario 3: This is the most unlikely in my mind... It's just a business decision, it's losing money and investors wanted it gone, or Yahoo is having a pre-emptive announcement in case the stockholders do call for Y! Auction's closure.

That's my opinion... The whole anti-American and Canadian stance means I won't use Yahoo! unless Google's servers crash.

Everybody seems to have a favorite site - but every one I've tried were dismal to say the least. So far, I still have to list on ebay in order to sell. The one thing I want to hear about from other sites is traffic...nobody seems to mention that. I'm used to selling 50+ items a month. So far, I can't even get to 10 items a month on other sites Sad
