...once they figure out a way to make their Google Checkout truly International for both the buyer and the seller.

If you guys are thinking what is taking Google so long to start their GOOGLE AUCTIONS, well... it is simply because the "Payment Option" that should be used for this Auction site is fixing its bugs and could be said to be in its infancy.

Creating an auction site is easy... some of you guys have created your own auction sites with those ready-made auction programs. Google will have no problem with the "auction-part" of the GOOGLE AUCTIONS.

The real problem is the "payment-part" of GOOGLE AUCTIONS.

Now that Paypal is expanding its functions in Europe (they are now licensed to act like a bank---just in case you did not know the news), GOOGLE Checkout has to be able to cater to the International market or simply..."to be where Paypal is".

Once the "payment-side" is fixed and working internationally, there is no stopping GOOGLE AUCTIONS!!!

There will definitely be a lot of migration from Ebay to Google Auctions and also from Paypal to Google Checkout.

Am I dreaming? Cool

Google has repeatedly said that they have no plans for an auctions site, preferring just to drive traffic through Google Base and Product Finder.

Do you have any evidence to base your claims on?

Why would they bother?

Google Base / Google Product Search drives content of things to sell and they can sell Adwords to both of these as well as sites

Googlebase pretty much fills that role and works better then Yahoo auctions ever did

Agreed; google has no need to enter the auction arena when sellers can list their items in google product search and sell from there with google checkout. The last piece remaining is the international ability.
