Moneybookers, today announces the appointment of Dr. Thomas Middelhoff as Chairman of the Board with immediate effect. LONDON, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Moneybookers, today announces the appointment of Dr. Thomas Middelhoff as Chairman of the Board with immediate effect. Moneybookers is the UK's first FSA licensed e-money issuer and one of the largest European online payment providers, offering local payment options in more than 35 countries and customer service in 12 languages.

Dr. Middelhoff currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of KarstadtQuelle AG, the German retail and mail order group, since May 2005. Previously, Dr. Middelhoff served as both the Non-Executive Chairman of KarstadtQuelle AG, which he became in 2004, and a managing director at Investcorp International Ltd., the global investment firm, which he joined in 2003. From 1997 to 2002, he was chairman and chief executive of Bertelsmann AG, which he joined in 1986. During his time at Bertelsmann, Dr. Middelhoff recognized the potential of the new digital media early and was responsible for a highly successful early investment in AOL. In 1999, Dr. Middelhoff co-founded and participated in Global Business Dialogue on e-Commerce, a worldwide, CEO-led business initiative to assist in the creation of a policy framework for the development of a global online economy. Among others, Dr. Middelhoff currently serves on the boards of Thomas Cook and The New York Times Company.
