I really don't know how to put this, but the only way you are going to get folks to go to Bidville is to have sales. Sellers go to places that sell, Buyers go to places that save them money.
The only way you can sell something there is to list what the people want to buy at a reasonable price.
Since BidVille is free to list on, you should be able to list an item to sell cheaper there than on the bay, Ubid, amazon or many other places.
People tend to buy the cheaper item, unless they have a reason not to.
And you maintain the same profit margin even though you listed the item for less than the ebay listed item.

I rarely look at Bidville to buy. If I do, they don't have what I want. Sellers can list but sometimes it seems a waste of time if there are no buyers. That is why advertising is important. Bidville has a lot of potential. It is a nice site that needs the attention it deserves.

But since listing is free, except for enhancemeant which are dirt cheap, that is all you might be wasting. Your time that is. So if you sell something, great. If not nothings lost but your time. You don't have to stop listing at the other places, just add things to the ville and the folks will come. Give em a bargin and they won't turn it down. And you can still maintain the same profits. When the site pick ups, so will your sales and profit margin.
But you've got to list things that the people want.

You're welcome trout.

Joe,

You talk a good game, but your BV feedback just does not support your position.

Unless uBid steps up to the plate success just isn't going to happen at BV, especially without the boards. There is no cohesion, no support, no way to plan or share... They have removed a critical component of BVs longevity.

BV makes money for uBid. If Sellers settle for the treatment they are receiving there is no reason for uBid to lead BV to success. Why should they? When they stopped feeding Google, Sellers stood up and they were heard. At first uBid resisted stating that there was some issue with the feeds, but in the end they corrected the problem. If the Sellers had said nothing there would be no Google feeds to this day.

It's so easy to relist at BV... If Sellers want to get uBids attention they should do the exact opposite of what you're suggesting. If they get together and close their auctions they will send a strong message. It's time to take the responsibility of BVs success off the shoulders of the Sellers. If uBid has the money to run tv ads, they have the money to man BV 7 days a week, yet they don't. That would cut into their profits and their BV profits are only for their uBid site. This won't change unless their profits suddenly stop. When I say suddenly I mean an organized event where stores (their biggest money maker) and auctions are closed within a timeframe that makes them take notice. Like all companies, you have to hit them in their pocket books. Of course, many have paid for their stores in advance... They're trapped up to their necks in the sand while uBid kicks sand at them. No communication. No boards. No advertising. No success for BV Sellers. And, in return they are blamed by unrelenting cheerleaders for not doing their part to make BV great. BV can't be great... uBid won't let it.

Joe, there are plenty of ways to get people to Bidville. The sorry part of it is is that very few of the sellers take advantage of the opportunities.

It takes only seconds to put your links in all kinds of places yet people don't do it.

Some folks post like 5 items and expect to be found among the million + listings.

And I do sell under a couple of different Id's here and elsewhere.

Ubid has been those Ubid Uphoria ads recently up and down the cable networks. Personally I think they could be better, but then again if it creates name recognition all the better. They need to get away from the URL where they track it, and just use the www.ubid.com URL to get people to the site, it's easier for them to remember. Either way there is no doubt Ubid is growing, if you look at their last numbers release, they grew with completed auctions and users more so than even the Christmas quarter. Ubid site is more business to consumer or business to business with large quantity and overstocks, where bidville is more consumer to consumer. If they'd just dedicate a little to sprucing up Bidville it would be much better, although in it's current state it's not all that bad, but it could be improved.

Does anyone have access to the web traffic numbers, where we can see what Ubid and Bidville sites are growing at or declining?

You can go to alexa.com and look them up. But the indexs can be interpeted in many ways.

You can also check quantcast.com. They seem a little more reliable and provide more information.
