from looking at hitwise data on useage of google checkout visits... it seems that google checkout has failed.....

all services brought online by a major online company like google will always get a big growth period......when there are major competittors, this is the TIME to get to users BEFORE the competitor retaliates... so speed is very important especially when the competitor is yahoo who has many big guns to retaliate with since they have got every humans interests locked in ....and paypal is also a major competitor that can retaliate to stop the growth of google checkout by banning sellers sites from using paypal if they use google checkout... this would stop google checkout dead in the water..

so after looking at the data which shows that the useage of google checkout visits has stayed exactly the same since oct .. from june to oct it showed the increase that was expected from a site offering a new service...... but not having an increase since oct spells failfure for google checkout.... too slow and dumb mistakes has cost them...

this data is before any retaliating which has now just begun by paypal...google HAD to race in and get enough users BEFORE the retaliating ....

I remember when X.COM first popped up. No one would use it. It took years for it to be taken seriously. People were saying it would never fly, yada yada yada...but now we know it as PayPal and it is the larest online payment system.

Give Google at least half the chance that X.COM had and you may be surprised!! People are a little more savvy when it comes to the internet and are looking for a better product. Google may or may not be it. But calling it a failure is just a tad premature wouldn't you agree?

Skillet/Deepriverman/Ozarkman.

Just because you don't seem to like Google doesn't mean that others here aren't in love with it. Yes there are a few glitches they need to work out. But PayPal/eBay ALWAYS have a ton of ongoing glitches they don't seem to feel necessary to fix.

So quit trying to stir things up again.

Carol
