I'm gonna start this thread out with the intention of helping with listing issues or concerns that some folks may be having. There are many knowledgeable folks from BidVille who are more than willing to help others. If you have a question please ask it. If you have the honest answer to the question, please post it.
Don't ask about the boards, Billing, Bidvilles intentions, stock price, involvment with Ubid or other things that general BidVille members wouldn't know.

Last month I down loaded and tried to install Bidville’s bulk lister software.

I could never get the thing to work. I emailed Bidville but no response.
When I try to install the software, about half way through I get this message.

Error 1931. The Windows installer service cannot update the system file
C:\windows\system32\MSVCRT40.dll because the file is protected by windows.
You may need to update your operating system for this program to work correctly.

I am using Windows XP, which is not that old of an operating system. I did a search for the file and it is on my computer in the directory it is suppose to be in. Why is windows protecting it from this new software?

I use the bulk lister everyday with Windows XP and it works great. Somethings you must do when installing it.
(1) Read the directions on Bidville and install it in the exact sequence they say. If you have it installed already, go to control panel, remove programs, and select it for removal. Then remove it.
(2) Read the directions again, especially the part about the MDAC and Jet files.
(3)If you have the install file on your computer already, delete it and download the latest copy. Even if you think you have the latest, download the one that is on the site today. It works, I just brought it down and reinstalled it to be sure.
(4)Make sure you are logged in as an administrator on your computer. Turn your virus checkers, guard dogs and whatever off before running the load file. All other programs should be closed during any program installation as they sometimes are using a file that might need to be updated.

I hope this helps.

I have done all of these things.
I already have the MDAC program and the Jet 4.0 drivers.
I have installed and uninstalled 3 times and done a new down load twice.
Express loader needs the file and Windows won’t let it have it. Virus Programs seem to be a good bet, but my virus program is Norton and I have it completely turned off.
I double checked that I am installing as the administrator and I am.
At this point I have got to believe, that it is the file on my computer. It must be different than other Windows XP msvcrt40.dll files

Also check for protection programs that don't let system files get changed. Go to your task manager and see what is running that doesn't need to be.

Here's something else that might help.

More help link

It seems that file has alot of problems.

I just sucessfully put the bulk loader on my Vista machine (first try) also so I have to assume there is something on your puter that is just not right. Do you have MS access on your puter?

Anyone notice the feedback importer is also showing the following error: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_DBC failed

I understand that Thursdays? is supposed to be their maintenance, it's only 4pm on west coast so that seems a bit early to have them doing it, but who knows...
At least it's not happening on early sunday evenings.

To be honest, I don't think the feedback site has been working lately anyway. Ever since the bay decided they didn't want to share your feedback numbers, and Yahoo is gone.

I was never able to install the bulk lister software. Last month I got a new computer with Windows Vista. I just now remembered about Bidville's Express Loader. I down loaded the program and it installed without a problem.

The question now is...do I use it?

Hi gang. Been using the loader a while with no problems. It did take me at least 3 or 4 times to get it installed the first time around. On the subject of their future you have to hope that someone at ubid see's BV's potential and does something about it. For now all you can do is keep listing and keep your fingers crossed.
