I was just prepping for the holidays and was going to turn on some adwords until Christmas and I see that google has lost their minds. For the key word "cuban cigars", where there are only 3-6 other advertisers, google wanted $5 per click. $5 - I could advertise on the radio or that much!

Is there a problem or policy change at Google I missed?

That might be a result of the embargo the US has
had all this time on Cuban goods. *shrug*

Google wanted that or the other advertisers were on that level?
You need to be creative with the keywords.
Also, PPC is a losing proposition on some products. You can very easily spend more than your margin!

You can spend your money on so many other advertising alternatives. Adwords is too expensive. And if you do not know what you are doing, you are doom to loose alot of money. Too insane for me.

Then you have some people who do extremely well. Many strategies one will have to learn in order to make good money with adwords. I have not learned a thing yet about adwords. I may look into it maybe later.
