Over a week away and it looks like the media has picked up on it. Will we be seeing more?

Unhappy eBay Members Plan Global Boycott

Ebay faces major sellers rebellion on the 1st of May

Anyone participating? How long does this boycott last? Will this be bigger the the Feb. 18th - 25th boycott?

For financial reasons, I cannot participate. But I do support all the sellers doing so and believe in it.
I hope it is successful in the fact that DonaHOE will see we are unhappy, and I hope it hits him hard in his eBay beige little trouser pockets.

We can still participate even if we have to sell on eBay. Do not buy on eBay. Check out the alternate sites for your purchases.

I boycotted the 1st time for about 3 weeks...I haven't sold on ebay for a month and my personal boycott will continue. Ebay has let it be known many times that they are courting the big sellers/corporations only. I'll learn the lesson now and not wait until they start kicking sellers off. It is so much more refreshing to deal with the friendly buyers on blujay.

PatchDog you hit it on the nose. It won't really matter if the sellers go on strike, when the buyers themselves start to go elsewhere is only time that Ebay will feel it.

I'm participating the first few days and will see how it goes. If enough are going to boycott then I'll stick with it. I hope those that have to list will at least cut down.

I was on the fence whether to stay in a limited capacity or not, until I ran into an obnoxious bidder, which has pretty much shown me the future of doing business on eBay and made the decision for me.

I also did an interesting experiment with the eBay invoice. The card I used for automatic payment just expired last month, and I got a new one, with a new expiration date and new security number. I canceled my eBay account mid-March as well. Despite these two facts, eBay had the audacity to charge my card from automatic payment setup three weeks AFTER THE ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED (eBay does not let you delete CC information, which I did not find out until I was closing my account), and another surprise, my CC paid them despite the security information supplied to them being wrong! This seems plain wrong to me from both the eBay side and my CC side - anyone know how to fight either? For now I disputed the charge with my CC, but I have a feeling this will not do it.

Conclusion - eBay are thieves and creeps.

I'm not going to list.I havent had anything up since my .01 listings closed. I did pretty good actually during the sale. I just cant understand Ebays feedback thing. Its CRAZY! Mad We,sellers cant leave feedback at all now?? If it wasnt for this crazy feedback idea they have,I probrobly would sell there. I dont want to take the chance and get my feedback messed up. My rating is around 4.9 now. I am hoping THIS boycott will do some damage and open Ebays eyes. Shocked

Most likely. The media will be looking for stories
to fill airtime / printspace and a report on the boycott
will be perfect fodder for some (Many outlets in the
more mainstream media will likely pass on reporting
about it figuring that the public is fatigued of hearing
about eBay. After all, it wasn't that long ago they
were reporting about an eBay boycott.) I think most
of the reporting about this upcoming boycott will be
primarily in more specialized tech / financial media,
not the mainstream media.

Well, I've already been slapped with the moniker
of 'eBay Lover' (laughable to the non-newbie on PSU)
so I'll make my predictions on this latest effort.....

First, I'll not be participating. I'm currently going to be
closing out my best month on eBay in six years and the
sales continue climbing. eBay still works for me and
my operating expenses there overall have remained
almost static. When eBay isn't profitable any longer,
I'll move on, but while it's still productive I'll keep using
the service.

Secondly, I don't see this boycott going anywhere. The
last one was ineffective, and that was when all the fury
was at its height right after all the changes were first
announced. Months have passed now and people have
gone on with their lives. The vast majority of those who
were closing up shop have likely already done so.

GAELICTITCA :

Are you an EBAY employee posing as an ebay powerseller out trying to do some damage control here at PSU?

Or

Are you truly the selfish-to-the-core individual who is here to gloat about your own personal financial gain and to hell with the rest of us?

Any "economic advantage" you are experiencing will prove to be shortlived in the long run -

We may be back here some time in the future, eBay is to confusing for me as a seller at this time so I opt to stay off of eBay until things settle down. see us at iOFFER(dot)com, hope to see you here again in the near future.

Thank you.

No, Gaelictitca does what is best for him. He'll leave eBay after others make enough sacrifices so that he can leave eBay comfortably.

He is doing what is best for his business. I could do the same if I chose and still be very sucessful and it would still be very profitable as my reasons for joining this community have nothing to do with money. I cant fault him for following the money.

What I do fault him for is his posts which belittle the people who are making sacrifices for him as if we were all fools and idiots for fighting.

People like him will reap the reward before, during and after the war because he does not give a crap about anyone but himself which is ok except for the way he boasts as if he was smarter than anyone not doing what he does. They think making a couple thousand dollars a month is big money too good to pass up no matter and to hell with honor and principle. Good thing our forefathers didnt have that attitude. We would still be answering to the Crown if they deemed to take the easy road.

I work a full time day job and if I chose I could be making about 10,000 dollars in profit each month after eBay fees. I know because I did it for a long time. My profits from online sales have been about 20 percent of that or less since February by my choice because I decided to make my own sacrifices and focus on the bigger picture for the good of the whole. Not just for myself.
