I should have said upper left after search to modify 100 per view.
Bill you can sub-categories at: Sell/ then the tab Advanced Options/ then Custom Booth Categories and it's a double search for free.
Wait it's all free right now....lol
|
Bobbi-Thanks, I have my booth set up to search sub-categories. But I have had two friends try and browse the site for mystery/Thrillers and that you cannot do. It's jut one big fiction category. If you're looking for a specific booth or book, it's no sweat.
For example, I buy a lot of obscure WW2 books, most of which I don't know exist until I see them. If you try to search by World War 2, then you have to use WW2, WWII, World War Two, World War 2, World War II, Second World War...see what I mean? If you have one big group of Books: Nonfiction, that's just too large to browse. |

I got cha......hmmmm. I know Bill & Mark have a lot on their plate but as the site is expanding so rapidly, I am sure that they will make as many tweaks & adjustments as befits the needs. With so many new members, with so many developments, I am sure they are working OT. Hang in there. |

Hello all! I copied this from Bonanzle: "Because of our emphasis on relentless simplicity, we have striven to keep our categories only two levels deep. The benefits of this are numerous. (1) It is simpler for sellers to choose their item categories without having to traverse a deep hierarchy (2) It's easier for buyers to see all browsable categories on one page (3) No redundant categories such as you'd have when there is a "Blues" category under "CDs," "Tapes," and "Records."
For a book such as World War II would it be too tedious to add WWII, World War II, etc within the page content to optimize your page? I understand what you are saying, I am just trying to find a solution given our current resources. I have never had a booth north of 30 items so forgive me if I make it sound so simple |

OK...I see it. It's just not available on the Live Booths or Recently Listed.
Well, I think there system can handle many Bonanzas, but there will be 13 on the 30th. Soon, most sellers will have them every other week. I know one seller just had 2 and will have another on the 30th. 10% off really isn't much of a sale if you ask me, but they litterally have a fit if people don't buy. |

So many valid opinions, and so much to get done! Here's what I says:
@Billthebooksguy: With our full text searching, finding "thriller" books is really as easy as typing the word "thriller" into the search box. Almost all the results on the first page are thriller books (the ones that aren't are thriller DVDs). You can always use the category filter on the right side of the page to narrow down so that your "thriller" results only show books.
Is it the ideal solution? Maybe not, if you've gotten used to browsing by clicking on buttons. But one could actually argue this is less work overall, since you can be searching thriller books from the home page if you just type "thriller" into the search box.
This certainly isn't to say we won't revisit subcategories in the future, but as Bobbi alludes to, the Bonanzle programming team (essentially, me ) has an unbelievable amount of todo on our list right now, so features that are "functional but not ideal" are taking lower priority than features that are completely absent (like USPS calculated shipping, or allowing buyers to buy without registering).
@Sitting: You and mdauctionsales (on our forum) both make persuasive points in favor of one Bonanza per month. I need to continue meditating on whether one or two Bonanzas per month is best, but regardless of what we choose, I think that the fact is that at some point in the near future (if not already) it will become impossible to visit every Bonanza that happens. Does that mean that Bonanzas "aren't working?" Probably not, I just think that people will learn to prioritize visiting the Bonanzas that have items they were interested in. As a seller, I think they will learn that if they want their booth to stand out, it pays to give some really screaming deals. In fact, I should probably order the featured Bonanzas so that the Bonanzas with the most items+highest discount take precedence on the list.
That said, I've heard many of our users concerned that Bonanzas won't scale because there will be too many to visit them all. I say, "No biggie." We just need to make it as easy as possible to find the Bonanzas that you *want* to visit.

Oh, and to Chicklet: Mark's solution should work for getting categories setup quickly within your booth, but I do intend to add the ability to categorize items from the batch editor sometime pretty soon. It's just kind of a pain to cram category selection into the interface, which is the only reason it isn't there already. |

On the bright side, did anyone notice that the site is running about twice as fast as it used to? Many page loads are now under one second for me, a couple days ago, they were averaging 3-5 seconds.
That's what I've been up to. |

Yes - Last night was great. I had transferred everything from ebay, but I had a big problem with not getting my pictures since I used a hosting site to upload originally. To make a long story short, I opened both sites and copied pictures to a file on my hard drive. Uploading the pictures to Bonanzle was so fast, I don't think there was even a wait time. 3 -4 pictures, edit the details to get rid of quirks from the transfer and I was out of each item quickly. I'm hoping to be able to have every listing fixed tonight. |
