I'm trying to figure out why Ioffer is so popular when many online say it's not a great place to sell. Any insight would be great.

IMHO, they are in love with the Mr Grabber listing importer for eBay and Bidville listings, which makes it easier to move their listings away from those two sites.

The already high # of listings also makes people believe it's a successful site.

Take a very close look at some of the items listed there for yourself, if you can stand how slow the site is. IMO, those sellers moving there long won't stay.

But that's just me. Wink

Also I'm so sick of people wanting things for nothing.
I got angry last night, asked him if it was possible for me to make a bit of profit, damn it! Told him I had my self-esteem and won't sell for peanuts. End of the deal. Evil or Very Mad

I know what you mean there too.

You have to be careful on iO if you do take an "offer". iO figures FVF differently than other sites do. If you have an order for multiple items, the FVF is figured on the total of the order, NOT on each individul item as eBay and most other sites figure it. The first time you get hit with the FVF that you thought was going to be small or not at all, you realize that maybe you lost money on that "offer". iO is not terribly clear on how they figure it out either.

All the things taken together, (the FVF, the fakes, the porn, the glitchy slow site, the club Nazis) make iOffer a less than desireable site. The problem is many of the new eBay refugees haven't been to PSU before they go to iO. They will learn soon enough that iO isn't the ideal "St Elsewhere".

I was there for nearly 3 years and only had about 20 orders in all that time. Not exactly booming business.

Carol

Maybe I have too much spare time, but the whole time I was a seller on ebay, I was always checking out other auction sites and what they had to offer.

I Offer is the SLOWEST downloading site that often disconnects when you try to go to the next page. The amount of cheap fake items for high prices was another big turn off. The amount of negotiation if you did make an offer took forever. I checked out a lot of the purses and I don't think there was a REAL Authentic one as stated by the sellers anywhere on the site.....makes me think they buy all purses from SELL.com. ebay has the same problem with fake purses along with other selling venues. The fact that anything can be listed drug wise and that people actually buy those drugs and have NO clue where they were made or what the ingredients are......SCARY. These are my impressions of I Offer as I have never sold or bought anything from their site. I know I would not want to sell on their site.

I think many who sold on ebay never checked out other selling venues and probably never thought they would have a need to be looking to sell on other venues. I am sure it has been an eye opening experience for many sellers.

I think your right. I don't think a lot of the x-ebayers are not aware of what is being sold on that site. I know I closed my account once I realize how much illegal activity was taking place on there and nothing being done about it. If you report it your the bad guy.

All I ever received were offers to sell for far less than what I had in the item. Maybe they all thought I was selling stolen goods and could sell them for next to nothing.

I think once most of the sellers that jumped without checking out this site will leave.

Lots of people seem to list there, though. Must be someone making some money or all would be gone, like some of the other sites.

Sure there are problems, haven't found an ideal site yet, don't think anyone else has either. Hope they do, though.

iOffer is the strangest place! I've had a bunch of books sitting there for about 3 years as well, and like Carol have had maybe 20-25 sales.

They seem to allow just about anything, kiddie porn, fakes, prescription drugs - you name it. With all the crap on their site, you'd think it might keep them busy monitoring that stuff, but oh no!

I checked my email there recently and discovered that one of my books had been removed by the iOffer C.O.P.S. This seditious material was an old Agatha Christie hardcover that has been sitting there for at least 2 years. No reason given for the removal. I guess they have to have their priorities! LOL!

Yup. Free parking for a lot of sellers. Plenty probably did little to no research before moving inventory over.

I'm sure plenty of sellers did research and were thrilled to discover their underground activities are tolerated.

The internet really is no different than any metropolitan area. The seedy, vice ridden side of town is usually at least as well populated and busy as any of the well appointed areas.

Sounds like you answered everyones questions about Ioffer in a nut shell. They posted a message stating they were installing faster processors. I have seen an improvement in service and page speed in the 3 months I've been there. They are still slow though. Took them over a week to answer my question but that's probably a staff issue.

Ioffer listings went up really really fast over the last 6 months. from under a million to going on 5 million right now (250,000 to go). I joined Ioffer at 3 million listings 3 months ago and they have grown 1.5 million in that time.

Only time will tell. I enter "Camping Stove" into the search box and what comes up, "PURSES & DVD's". If I enter anything into the search box all I mostly get are Purses, DVD's and cloths.

Damned "Keyword Tags"! I listed a camping stove and used the keywords, "Blouse, pants, shirt, top, dress & shoes". Gotta fight fire with fire!

A quick comment on the feedback grabber, I found it to be a little nerve racking, they ask for your user password to feebay and when you hit the submit button it says (wait) lol. Our feedback Import works where the customer provides this information privately and its not given to the staff. Well we waited and ended up getting a error response so we had to change our password over at feebay LOL.

I think Fididel.com is a great alternative, you can negotiate in real time. It loads quick and is the next wave of ecommerce buying and selling.

The only reason I offer is going so hi on the listing is sellers can import them from ebay but then they don't edit or do anything with those listing and they are a mes. I gave up on ioffer as a buyer a while ago it is amess!
