Don't feel alone in your experiences with
OLA. There are many of us here who gave
it a fair chance to perform (and in the case of
myself, am there now and watching to see if
anything will over come of the place).

A grand total of one sale in the last four months
doesn't inspire a whole lot confidence in them
being that breakout venue that everyone is
longing for.

I'm sorry OLA didn't work out for you at this time... Good Luck Wherever You Go.

Metzy, it's not up to you to provide condolences to those who found that OLA didn't net them any sales. It's up to you to leave them alone and to go home. You don't care about them.

It happens here all the time. Someone says something you don't like and then you go on a foaming rampage thinking that folks will fall in behind you lock-step as you shred a PSU member. Then when the group turns on you instead, you go from thread to thread offering your sharpened olive branches.

How you operate is nothing different than OLA. Lots of promises with no foundation. For seasoned Internet folks to have been shocked and disgusted by the video placed on YouTube by one of the OLA harpies meant to make fun of me; it really must have been something to see, indeed. For you to have said that you laughed at what everyone else found to contain unacceptable content you show your true character.

I'm sure you'll respond in some crusty, nasty, rotten manner to this post, but I just don't care. I just don't. You are an Internet ghoul that flies from place to place hoping to gather recruits for brainwashing so you can carry them back to OLA to be disemboweled by your OLA harpies. You must be very frustrated that your success rate is slipping and I imagine the fridge where you keep the blood of your victims must be getting empty and you must, in turn, be very thirsty.

Fly away with that olive branch of yours to someplace where it matters. You've offered it here dozens of times and it doesn't work anymore.

Go 'HOME'? I thought PSU was for everyone... including those YOU don't like for whatever warped reason. I have never done a single thing to you or anyone else here that warrants treatment or words like those. You chase me around to whatever thread I post in/on, even the non-OLA ones. I don't know why TPTB let you get away with it!!!

Wishing someone well now gets your scorn? How dare you decide who or what I care about!!! OMG... Get help. Get Help NOW. You're a very sick puppie...

"Gave it fair shot but cancelling at end of this billing cycle"

Good luck on that one!

The only sales I had was when they had their " .99 rummage sale" Though I joined OLA as a buyer only 3 months prior, I jumped on the bandwagon when I heard about this sale.

Most, if not all of my buyers, were other OLA sellers looking to snatch up as much as possible for .99... to resell no doubt! Out of 37 sales, all but 2 things sold for .99....

Then I had to deal with a few that complained about the shipping cost. Since I charge actual shipping plus 1.00 handling, it was very irritating & not worth the .99 sale... I do not make the prices for shipping! And these were sellers doing the complaining! I guess they really wanted something for nothing!!! I felt like they thought they were doing me a favor by buying my stuff!

I pretty much gave stuff away, if you count the time spent packing, the packing supplies, the ink & paper to print shipping labels & the 15 mile drive to my P.O. one way... You get the point!

That sale was promoted to the gills & appears to be the only time OLA promoted itself. I gave it a shot @ the monthly 8.00, coming very close to becoming a founding member after the rummage sale.

Thinking (my bad) that I would do OK on OLA, since I did so many sales during the rummage sale... But decided to stick with the monthly thing, just a bit longer, to see.....

Sooooo glad I did! After the sale, nothing! I was lucky to get even 1 hit, let alone a sale... I thought what I made during the sale, covered that month's 8.00 & another month, as well.

Over 200 items listed, most were at .99 or penny over.... Nothing!

So I gave it another month. Still not even a hit, or a sale. So, 2 weeks before the billing cycle, I decided to close my seller account & downgrade back to a buyer. Did everything I was suppose to do, to downgrade. Even got the "confirmed" thingy, saying it was going to show on the next billing cycle.

That billing cycle came, I was charged the monthly fee & was still showing a seller account. And I had ended all my listings 2 weeks before!

So I called & spoke with some guy. He told me that it does not show, that I downgraded my account. He asked if I got the confirmed thing, and I told him I most certainly did or how would I have known that it would not show until my next billing cycle.

He went on to say that he would immediately downgrade my account. I asked about the 8.00 taken from my account, he said he would have to talk to his "boss" about refunding me, but would get me downgraded immediately & get back to me via e-mail.

The day came & went & nothing. Still a seller & no word on the refund.

I waited 2 days & called again. Spoke with the same guy. Was told the same thing & was told his "boss" was very busy & he would make sure he had it taken care of that day.... Still as a seller the next day & no refund!

So, I waited another 3 days & called "AGAIN".. You guessed it, same BS, same promises, same results!

So I took it out of their hands & called my bank to dispute the 8.00 charge. And guess what! My bank called them. It took 24 hours for them to not only refund my money, but to finally close my seller account, never having access to another penny.

My bank said that when they called OLA, the person at OLA that took the call, said they had never had a bank call them. Imagine that!

So sad when you have to take these measures, just to close an account & get your money back. It was very close to the next billing cycle & no doubt, I would have been charged again.

So anyone that is planning to downgrade, better keep an eye on your bank account or you will be charged & OLA will play dumb when you call to complain. Make sure you call your bank to dispute any charges after you have closed your OLA seller account...

Good Luck!

Metzy, I can literally hear the paranoia in your voice Laughing I've never followed you around...but...now you've given me the idea, thanks Laughing BTW, whatever rotten treatment you're getting from anyone on these boards can't compare to the torment you doled out over at OLA. You and your harpies are putting notches in your gun-belts so fast that your knives are getting dull. Twisted Evil

OMG! This could have been me! I, too, almost fell for the rummage sale deal even though most of the advertising & its conception was from an OLA seller & not the company.

The thing that really stopped me from hopping on the rummage sale bandwagon was all the OLA cheerleaders here at PSU.
Who needs to deal with all their garbage!

So, luckily I just let the big rummage sale slip through my fingers!

Boy, what a headache I saved myself!

PostPosted: Wed Aug 27, 2008 2:26 am   Post subject:  Re: OLA sell-through rate, past 30 days #23  Back to top

OK. I whipped out the calculator tonight and added up my total sales at OLA since becoming Floundering Member there a couple months ago.

I made my 196.00 back, plus 80.73.
Of course, 80.73 doesn't pay for the hours it took to list hundreds of items, with a vast majority of them not even getting a glance.
But, I'll take the cash, without complaint. At least I will get out ahead, financially. I am sure many others aren't coming out unscathed and I really feel for them. Sad

As soon as I finish moving my listings back to the bay (where I'm more *gasp* "appreciated"), I'm closing the OLA store and will never look back!! Mad

I never went in thinking it would be remotely like the bay. I never had a problem with the bay to where it affected my business. I moved some inventory out and cut my auction listings from a couple hundred to 50 in support of my fellow sellers who were hit the hardest with the bay's stupid feedback changes. I took a chance on OLA. Yet, OLA, in its silence, has made it clear that they do not care about its members. The certain few hardcore ones (some not very pleasant) can remain delusional in their bubble. I am happier to leave their neighborhood much more than they are happy to be rid of me.

Before the holiday season arrives (~30 days) I will wipe my hands clean of OLA.

Thank you PSU, for your help in clearing up the fog. Sure wish I'd met you sooner.

I can sure second that, at least you made something. I have yet to make a dime at OLA, after 6 months. I may have just as well flushed $200 down the great white throne. Let's just pray that people scrutinize the other venues available first before thethe next expected eBay exodus which is already beginning.

-"Floundering Member"-You sure hit the nail on the head there!

I don't know if anyone heard Fain the other night but he said OLA has had millions and millions of dollars in sales and is second to Ebay. You should hear the cheerleaders saying how ebay is so afraid of OLA and they keep hinting they are the ones who hijacked the site.

Wow, they are averaging 150 sales a day most of them for less than $5 and the more expensive items such as cars have high bids but keep getting relisted since the Reserves are not met.

Giving OLA the benefit of the doubt let's say they sell 200 items a day at $10 an item - that means they sell $730,000 a year. I am sure some other sites do that in a month.

Chris Fain DID NOT hint that eBay was behind anything... if you are going to report from other venues, at least do it truthfully and without bias.

And please Metzy, stop telling people we work for eBay (more paranoid delusions). I could only hope for that kind of salary.
