A new Microsoft operating system has won overwhelming approval from users. Even more astonishingly, the operating system in question is actually Windows Vista.

In a bid to improve Vista's fortunes, Microsoft's team in San Francisco rounded up a bunch of XP users who had a negative perception of Vista, according to a report on CNet.com.

The users were shown a video of a new Microsoft OS, called Windows Mojave, and were asked for their impressions of the new software.

More than 90% of the users had a positive reaction to what they saw, with one remarking "oh wow" as the video ran.

It was then revealed that the video they had been watching was not a new operating system at all, but Windows Vista.

In words attributed to Phineas T Barnum, though probably not uttered by him, "There's A Sucker Born Every Minute".

Well, that's very interesting.

But it was after all only from a video . . .

I had a laptop with Vista on it and I hated it. I got a new laptop with Vista on it and it's not been so bad. I'm thinking the laptop might have had something to do with how it functioned. Wink

I bought a new laptop which came with Vista Business and it ran so slowly with constant UAC prompts that I downgraded to XP Pro (yes, that is allowed - see http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9040318 ).

It took ages to find all the XP drivers but was worth it in the end. I'll avoid Vista for as long as possible.

Exactly !!!

Once you are actually using it and can't find drivers for your 1 year old "legacy" printer or camera, it would be a different story.
