I am reading lots of reviews & considering very carefully before I join as a founding member.

One good thing about OLA's subscription fee is that you don't have to jump in at the Founders level. You can test run the venue for $8.00 a month to decide if it's a good fit for their business.

You're smart not to jump right in...I sure wish more sellers would research venues!

Olga, That is incorrect. You only have to pay $8. a month. If you are a seller, you are already verified.

vermonter57 is correct olga.

The $8 per month verification includes buying AND selling at OLA.com. Very Happy

I too think anyone who is thinking about joining any site should do independent research, and not rely on this forum or Olas forum if you believe untruths are being told. We are grown ups, I think, and can decide for our selves. I personally would not advise anyone to join at the FM level even though I am a FM. I didn't become one right off the get go.

I joined in early March, and paid the $8.00 monthly fee. After about 2 months, I decided to go for it, and no one spammed me, or lured me in any way whatsoever. It was totally my decision. It is working for me, because I get to use all of that money and it's going right back into my pocket by being able to do 20 Featured auctions if I so desire, or I can use it for other upgrades. After that, it is $96.00 a year, which breaks down to $8.00 a month.

Many auction sites have affiliate programs. I have personally seen 4 of these type of programs. It works for both parties involved, and it is true, most forget to ever use the promo codes. Thats why most of us will never see a dime, because not very many click on it. They even say as much after being there for awhile. Users will say, Gee if I had known about the promo code I would have used it. So, if any of you think that is what is going on, you are sadly mistaken. The site isn't making any money off the promo codes. This is in no way a pyramid scheme. Not even close.

I also, didn't want to have this last sale that just ended. and I said so on the boards more then once. I speak my mind when I feel the need, and I will say it on the OLA boards or where ever. I did however make 6 completed sales out of the 10 items I had put up for it. I just couldn't get myself motivated. But, I did very good. 60% STR! Not bad at all. Very Happy Very Happy

I just became a Founding Member on ola because of the storefront option, basically, and I thought it was kind of a way to help keep the site afloat and to make some improvements. I opened the store as said improvements were taking place, and the site looks so much nicer now than when I joined in May.

As far as the Promo code, I had no idea that it was used to get money in my account. I do not post the code in my chats, etc, because frankly, I don't care about that. That's not what I am in it for.

And I am against the $4 verified buyer thing. If I am trying to bring my ebay business to ola, I don't want any prospective member to feel they have to pay 4 bucks a month to bid on my items. I specify in my little ebay packages that signup is FREE, that you do not need to register with a credit card.

My friend, if all the info in this site isn't enough, you will know the truth about OLA soon. Good luck with your sales there, you'll need it.

I disagree with this. This is an independant forum and not a "feel good" site forum.

Forums like this are good for information, good and bad about a site and help with decision making.

To tell someone to do their own research is like telling them to throw away their time and money while finding a site that is "right". If great things were being said about OLA here then you would not be saying this.

Sites like this help people decide quicker which is better than wandering around in the desert for 40 years.

Eh...I've spent 200 bucks on things much worse than a year at OLA.
Like drugs and ebay fees.

Difference is with those expeditures you
get either possible physical / mental benefit
(drugs) or a chance of generating income
(eBay fees).

With OLA you get smoke and mirrors hype
and your wares shelved on a dead end
backwater on the world wide web with tons
of 'promises' than never seem to quite be
realized.

Uh...I never said I left ebay. I'm no fool.

I only lessened the amount of auctions I post because it's not feasible to spend .35 on a 2.09 listing. My bill has gone from over $400 down to $80. My store is thriving, and I am a PowerSeller with 7 years in the biz.

I simply am spreading out my eggs among multiple baskets. Sometimes I take risks. If OLA doesn't work out, oh well. I've already made my $200 back. No biggie.

EXactly. These are my sentiments as well. It really is a risk no matter how much research or homework you do. Some sites seem to do better with certain items and vice versa. I've only played the OLA selling games twice. I sold a few things that way, but thats not my thing. The rest of my sales were from both new and old users. Just recently new buyers are bidding. I just had some bids yesterday from another brand new buyer. I also sell on 2 other venues. One is better then OLA, and the other one isn't. Very Happy Very Happy
