OnlineAuction.com Reviewer's Comments

OnlineAuction.com is a small comprehensive online auction service that is well on its way to becoming one of the larger contenders. The layout and browsing navigation options are easy to use. OnlineAuction.com includes many standard listing categories as well as a few unique ones like, “Livestock,” “Militaria” and “Equestrian.”

OnlineAuction.com is $8.00 a month for sellers, this includes four free description photos an additional category listing. Listing identical items or placing your product in the featured list is extra. OnlineAuction.com has five auction platforms to sell from, these include classic, absolute, dutch, sealed and penny over auctions.

Although registration is free, OnlineAuction.com encourages buyers to become “verified” which is four dollars a month. Becoming a “verified buyer” is optional; however sellers may block bids by “unverified buyers” if they choose to.

Sure, OLA *LOOKS* like a great value
when your first scan through the site....

However, the test is the actual performance
of the site, and on that count OLA fails quite
miserably.

There are loads of first hand testimonials to
that fact here on PSU from those who have
actually used the site for an extended period
of time.

LOL... so even this reviewer of the site sees
this $4.00 a month charge by OLA as being a
fee that is 'encouraged'.

And people wonder why first time browsers at
OLA close the window and never return to the
site?

Ya' might want to go into the history here on PSU, Crazy train.

In 2005 - 2006, GAELICTITCA used OnlineAuctions.com; gave it a very fair run. GAELICTITCA has more experience w/ OLA than a lot of currently vocal supporters...but is supposed to shut up and go away.

GAELICTITCA's experience may be inconvenient to current promos and contrary to your experience, but it's as valid and valuable to PSU members as yours or any other OLA member experiences.

Some of us 'old timers' have been around the block more than a few times. Wonder why the guinea pig wears a helmet?? Done a lot of reporting from the trenches...a lot.

This poster is CALLMEMOMO who uses little songs and poems on OLA to belittle sellers who push for responsible answers. Or, another thought, could be METZYMOM, she likes to drop houses on people and use old movies to belittle people.

Nonetheless, OLA cheerleaders generally will begin to belittle posters here and on OLA when the poster in questions makes a concrete statement that can't be refuted. So, they act like little kids in a playground and call names.

This type of conduct alerts the educated, responsible and mature seller of the back-handed, childish and moronic conduct of the OLA cheerleaders.

The author of this topic was banned for having MULTIPLE ID's here at the PSU forum which is a violation of our TOS.

Another user name this same member used WAS blackballed which has also be banned.

The third user name using this same IP will now be warned by us issuing them a yellow card. If this keeps up, the original registred member will also be banned from using this forum.

Quote from the first post in this thread:

"Although registration is free, OnlineAuction.com encourages buyers to become “verified” which is four dollars a month. Becoming a “verified buyer” is optional; however sellers may block bids by “unverified buyers” if they choose to."

Is this correct? $4.00 A MONTH to be verified as a buyer? While I signed up as a buyer on the site, I did not chose to be verified. I would never pay a cent to buy on a site. Why on earth would there be a monthly charge for verification, especially for buyers? Does the site re-verify monthly?

Yep, a verified buyer at OLA can purchase msot anything while the unverified buyer at OLA has a $$ limit of around $500...I think.
In other words, you can still shop, purchase and browse but unless your verified, you cannot purchase an item in value greater than $500.

ALSO many of the OLA sellers MAY choose to accept verified buyers ONLY.

Before clicking BID, read the sellers fine print.

I've purchase many things over there and never had a problem, but then again I usually send money orders which is same as cash Laughing

What on earth is going on? I have one ID. I take my hits and don't lie about who I am. It appears to me as though the OLA cheerleaders really take issue when it comes to telling the truth. What about the truth is so repulsive to them?

I think it's more like a few OLA sellers who do not have the ability to debate their opinions to a desired outcome so they resort to lying.

The result is that these pathetic antics tarnish the reputation of the good and decent sellers at OnlineAuction.com and the venue itself.

Great way to support a venue with plenty enough on their plate. yea team. rah. rah. rah

Who is the Owner of or Spokesperson for this site and do they not realize that their members are giving the site a bad reputation with this type of juvenile conduct?

Given the unscrupulous buyer's verification MONTHLY fee, I will refrain from browsing the site and will definitely not consider selling on the site. $8.00 a month to sell? IMO, the sales on the site, according to what I've seen, do not justify this charge.

Chris Fain is the owner of the site but he couldn't care less what those people are doing, not one bit. You could call their 800 number but that won't make a difference, either. That's why OLA is not on the top of anyone's list of great places to sell. The cheerleaders run the place. They get people banned. They have OLA remove certain sellers. They have certain threads removed from the forum over there. All they have to do is contact admin and it's as good as done.

Unfortunately, that situation occurs on most alt. sites, eBay as well. A good reason why sellers should avoid the chat boards, except to ask questions or promote their own products.

If asking questions, in a respectful manner, is met with disparaging remarks by members, and the site owner is aware of such occurrences, but choses to do nothing about them, then, IMO, the site is not worth bothering with and like so many other alt. sites, will self-destruct in time.
