...I didn't realize, so I removed the offending link... it is now in my signature... BTW, just so folks know, the CNN link is worth the read and it actually has the people who are posting the hate here following me to other non-OLA threads as well as reporting me.

Metzy, that will help a lot! And I would not call that spamming. I call that information.

Unfortunately for OLA (although I will continue to do some business there) I discovered a very simple listing site that had my items at the top in Google immediately! (Which, by the way, is still in beta and just this morning did have a glitch...so I am not going after perfect here!)

It has a very clean, inviting look and feel. It is also very simple to list, have cool features such as a spot at the top of the store that allows users to talk with the store owner in real time chat if the owner is online. I mean...the list goes on!

It is not having all the struggles that OLA has had and it is new...vs. having been working on the issues for 10 years.

Somehow, as a business owner, I have a stronger trust that the site will be run correctly and I won't have to wait for years to get my needs met. They are met before I even signed up.

Right now they are in Beta and free. But even when they implement whatever costs that will be set, they have my trust that it will be fair.

LARGE NOTE:
I am NOT joining in the OLA bashing or complaining. I am wanting to be clear about why I am not concentrating on OLA. And I am very glad to hear they got the google search to work.

I also do NOT have an issue with having paid OLA 200.00 for the founding membership. That was a risk I was willing to take in a gamble that they would use it well. And they still may.

If we are going to work in the online venue, we have to be willing to let things go when they don't work and move on to the next thing. Or we will just end up stuck in the muck and spinning our wheels each time a site does something we don't like.

How so? I'm following both sides of this long-running OLA sux/OLA rules debate, although it gets a bit childish at times on both sides. (Not meaning you, just in general) I will admit that I don't read every post so maybe I've missed something.

I have not used OLA yet and will not if they do not provide a reasonable selling platform. So far, I don't think they do. But if that day comes I won't hesitate to pay them and sell there.

Thanks for the update, Metzy. I hope things continue to develop in a positive direction.

It's nice to hear of actual developments implemented rather than just hope and conjecture.Very Happy

I am with you Bill...Metzy did not spam.

If you take your post and copy and paste it in several threads, it is considered to be spam. That is what Metzy did over and over and over.

goose, live auctions at OLA are not new. Fain had them in place years ago and then they faded into oblivion. He is just resurrecting one of his dead horses and passing it off as "new and improved".

"He is just resurrecting one of his dead horses...'

Whether recycled or not, it appears to be a good idea, and they are getting noticed by Google. Time will tell whether or not it'll work.

It's fair to remain skeptical, but not to condemn efforts to improve whether they be old or new. Oft times pulling old methods off the shelf, polishing them and implementing a new version can prove to be beneficial.

If you're going to be critical of Fain for not doing anything, you should at least remain neutral when he does do something long enough to see if it works.

The way it looks now is that you've been critical because he's done nothing, and now that he has done something, you're critical of him for doing something -- somewhat of a conflicting dichotomy you're passing judgment on.

Exactly. Well articulated.

Thank You for those who said I wasn't spamming. You're looking at it the same way I did. It's new and solid information that shows OLA as something different that the hate-mongers here portray it as, which was my only intention.

Spamming to me is when I click on a thread with a new post and it's the same exact message I encountered when I clicked on 4 other threads.

Exactly, CuFF, and Metzy spammed.

Metzy said: Thank You for those who said I wasn't spamming. You're looking at it the same way I did. It's new and solid information that shows OLA as something different that the hate-mongers here portray it as, which was my only intention.

Metzy, the information that you gave was placed all over the OLA boards here word for word. That is spamming. And, how does it show OLA as anything different? I read what you posted. Fain connects with other sources online a LOT and always with a huge amount of promotion and hype. Come back and tell us when the sales are up or live auctions are driving new bidders to OLA or when Fain is spending his own money on advertising for his paying sellers. Come back when you have something to offer other than empty promotions that are unproven.

I remember when the OLA cheerleaders were all a-gog over Fain when he went to Ireland. What did that net you, Metzy? But, you and others made his trip out to be something akin to meeting with the Pope. What hasn't changed is that Fain is making money off you and the other cheerleaders and you folks aren't making much money at all, even with all of the hard work put in to lure buyers to OLA.

With over 16 million items for sale on any given day and a whopping 100 sales per day, there is going to have to be a gigantic amount of money spent on advertising to double the sales numbers and that would only be a paltry 200 out of 16 million.

Posting identical information across multiple threads is SPAM. I think at this point, PSU Mods and the poster have removed the excessive posts...which may be why there seems to be some disagreement and confusion.

The press release is interesting, AuctionFloor announcing that OLA has become one of their customers. It can't hurt to have a reputable company bring their experience and software to help sellers manage their inventory and maybe generate activity with live listings, especially since eBay is doing away with live listings in January.

I agree, only time will tell if this will translate into increased sales at OLA. Most of the fairly known venues will have an increase for the next 3 mos, then there'll be a flurry of activity during Q1 of '09 when eBay makes more "adjustments". I wouldn't expect miracles right out of the gate. The acid test for the AuctionFloor/OLA relationship will be Q2 - Q4 of 2009.

I removed most of them... I think PSU removed one, possibly 2, but I think it was just one. I didn't realize it was spamming and corrected the posts.

The CNN link is now part of my siggy below.
