It's a shame that a member of OLA had to come here and attack a PSU member, this site and its management. It's also a shame that some OLA members don't abide by the rules of other sites, yet expect to be treated as though they are as good as gold. I suggest you talk to Buyer111us and find out why he believes that chaos and negativity are good ways to increase the pageviews at OLA.

Some OLA members bite the hand that feeds them... I've heard PSU admin badmouthed on several occasions by certain OLA members. If it wasn't for PSU OLA wouldn't have much traffic at all. It's not like Fain is going after Buyers... he wants Founding Members so he can continue to line his pockets while emptying the pockets of others.

If there was a catchall forum for all site complaints there would be no need for this forum at all.

One thing is that most sellers who are very successful on a site won't be found around forums such as this. Their full attention is focused on running their successful business as it probably shoud be.

You can't be saying that you are an unsuccessful seller, can you? I am here to say that I sell quite well on eBay. I tried OLA and found that all they did was take my money, give me empty promises and when I asked "where's the beef" they sent their ghouls to disembowel me and toss me into the river. I am also here because there is no way that I want anyone else to go through what I had to endure over at OLA at the hand of Metzymom and her band of harpies. I am here to, hopefully, stop Fain from lining his pockets with money, laughing all the way to the bank knowing full well that he just nailed another sucker with the help of Metzy and other sellers just like her who dupe the unsuspecting into giving away their hard-earned money to receive nothing in return.

"If there was a catchall forum for all site complaints there would be no need for this forum at all."

PSU is a catchall forum for airing both complaints and praise for various sites when done in a mature and rational basis, providing for varying points of views while pursued through the use of facts and mature opinions based on experience.

It's not a forum for ad hominem attacks, personal accusations and slander, nor childish videos and threats or attacks to the businesses of others. Those types of "discussions" and activities have no merit on their own, nor explorative value for others when evaluating participation on a site. They are simply childish, immature screams attempting to prove their "righteousness" while defeating themselves through their own words and poor ethics regardless of the validity of their base position.

And those are the types of discussions that belong on "Playground Antics 'R Us.

MOST sellers who "sell quite well" on eBay do NOT sell well on ANY alternative site. Those who are successful on alternative sites approach them with very reasonable expectations and understand that it takes a long time to build up a solid business on any alternative site. Most successful alternative site sellers need to try several different sites over a long period of time to see what works best for their items and selling style. It's also necessary to spend a long period of time adjusting your selling style from what DID work on eBay to what WILL work on one or more alternative sites. You strike me as a person who went into OLA with very unrealistic expectations (demands?) and no experience selling off eBay, got angry when the site didn't meet your unrealistic expectations, and can't stop blaming other people for your lack of experience and unreasonable expectations.

Your posts and treatment of others only make me more likely to join OLA, not less likely.

Is the forum biased? No...are some members biased? Yes, of course. And it works both ways.

While I am turned off by posts which constantly slam sites over and over with the same information and I am equally tired of site cheerleaders who come here with promoting sites in an attempt to mislead new immigrants from eBay....separating them from their money for a few months while they discover that all is not what the site "cheerleaders" led them to believe.

Yes, the "forum" remains unbiased and allows these cheerleaders to sell their kool-aid. Many members feel a sense of duty to warn new members about their experiences with sites like WagglePop and OLA. As long as it doesnt go too far, I see nothing wrong with that. There is no bias within the "forum" itself.

In fact, open forums like this allow people to "tell it like it is" without fear of repercussion from the site that deletes any thread that asks legitimate questions about the direction of a site or from members who gang up on any member who asks these questions in the site forums.

I guess Metzy is considered a leader in the "block party" against anyone who has the gall to question OLA and with WagglePop, if they were as effective as running their site as they were in deleting posts that show the slightest signs of dissention, they would have become a viable alternative long ago as opposed to being the pariah site they are today.

Have OLA and WagglePop earned their critisism? Based on what I have read and experienced myself, yes, to a certain degree. But not to the degree that it becomes personal.

The sites exist. Their cheerleaders exist. It is what it is. As long as they don't attempt to deceive new members, I really dont care. Eventually all of the gimmicks and media tricks will get old and their source of gullible newbie members will dry up. Maybe even over time the site cheerleaders themselves will be tired of the facade and move on.

Yep-should be writing TV scripts. If you believe that story I have some beach front real estate in New Mexico I'de love to talk with you about. What a crock-and how many times has he/she done this? Rolling Eyes Give me a break! How many times can you say you are leaving somewhere and come back? Kind of reminds me of the Brett Favre retirement tears for crying out loud! And what about all the tales about making mega bucks a nd other lucrative deals? Sure, you're going to hang out on the OLA site just so you can tell gullible people all this! If he really had all the stuff he says he has going with businesses-he wouldn't have time for OLA. Puhleeze! I'm getting in the habit of having to check out what the "buyer" has to say next over there. I had to laugh at the cacaphone of sympathy he is getting now.

Guess I had better pop some popcorn and pop over there again! Gotta run! Laughing

Oh, please do. Please take all that you are selling and place it for auction on OLA. It will only be 8.00 for a month. Please, oh, please, join in on their forum and Wednesday night "buy from each other" games. Please, please go sell on OLA.

You don't know me and yet you make a statement about me? You'll fit right in over there. Nearly 1000 items for sale and 26 sales in 6 months...you betcha...you'll fit in at OLA just fine!

As for my lack of experience, I sell in less than a week what you've managed to sell in 6 months.

If I had the time and if I needed another selling venue, I would. $8./month is pocket change for most online sellers, and I like that OLA allows promotion of other sites which would be my primary reason for using the site. My reasons for choosing several other sites over OLA are that their traffic in relation to number of listings is VERY low compared to my main selling home where I'm already well established, and at least as of earlier this year, lack of Google exposure was a major downside. But I have nothing against the site and would use it if I could spare the time.

Your posts and posting style say a lot about you.

I sell $20,000.+ every 6 months. I don't think you sell that in less than a week. If you do, I'm certain that you would have been able to make that eight bucks a month pay off.

Angel.....WOW great income you make. I think I am selling the wrong items...LOL No really your doing quite well.

Myself on the otherhand don't come near to what you make. Even though I work my butt off to get my vintage items online, there is NOT the market for BIG BUCKS in what I sell. I only wish!

Thank you, although I HAVE to do well if I want to keep a roof over my head. Very Happy

It might help you to try some other sites. I'm on eCrater and Blujay too, but don't sell much on either. You might want to talk to the owner of this WP store and see if he'll tell you how things are going for him and if he has any suggestions:

http://www.wagglepop.com/stores/Rick-Ks-Vintage-Plus

I think he does well from what I've heard.

*now back to our regularly scheduled OLA programming*

Actually, I'm not sure how you could
make such a statement. Just because
you do "X" amount of online sales doesn't
necessarily mean that another site will
work for you.

Just because I'm doing very well over
all in online sales (not $20,000 a week,
more like $15,000 a month on average)
doesn't make OLA do squat to add to
my bottom line. Let's see, in the last 4
months on OLA I've tallied up a grand
total of $20.00 in sales (and paid OLA a
total of $32.00 for the pleasure of doing
business there). Even if I were doing
$15,000 a week in sales elsewhere online
it isn't going to make a difference in the
amount of traffic OLA gets.

OLA says that the google product feed
is up and running (and, indeed, I have
notice that my 'Penny Over Auctions' at
OLA have been transformed into fixed-
price listings). However, putting the
same basic keywords into Google search
for the exact same item offered across
several other venues shows my wares
that are on eBid, SpecialistAuctions, eBay,
and eCrater, but still nothing from OLA
showing up in search.

Bottom line is until OLA is able to generate
traffic to the site, it will remain yet another
eBay wannabe on the world wide web.

Gael, WHAT your make $180,000 a Year selling online. Whats your secret? I have been selling online since 1997 and never came close to that number.

Hey you can do me a favor and let me know how I can Submit My Blujay Rss Feeds to Google. If you could PM me that would be great. I have just read for about 2 hours and still can't figure it out.

Thanks!

That is weak. Any chance that the ability to advertise other sites makes up for the other $12.00? What about Google Products? Are the listings showing up there yet? I know that with my website it took quite a while AFTER I'd been submitting the products to Google Base for it to finally get indexed properly in the main Google search. Maybe the OLA items are just now getting indexed and barely beginning the long slow climb up the ranks.
