Welcome to PSU and best of luck with your venture. However, you might wish to take a closer look at your competition, much of which also visits PSU. And amongst your advertising copy are a few claims you might wish to research and reconsider if you hope to attract PSU members to your site:
ldBidz.com wrote (View Post): › LDBidz is the only auction site in the net that does not charge any listing fees
Sorry, but FALSE.
ldBidz.com wrote (View Post): › 3. Lowest Final Value Fees
Sorry, but outrageously FALSE.
http://www.ldbidz.com/auction/site_fees.php
ldBidz.com wrote (View Post): › Just set up auto bid, set the highest amount you ar willing to pay and go enjoy your life. When someone bids against you it bids automatically for you. Isn't that a great feature?
Yes it is. It's also a very common one.

I hope you understand I mean this constructively" A little more research could benefit your marketing campaign dramatically. there's probably a very good reason people have not flocked to this thread.

LDBidz wrote (View Post): › is the only auction site in the net that does not charge any listing fees

LDbidz.com: OK you are right i should rephrase that ( LDBidz is one of many auction sites that does not charge any listing fees )

ldBidz.com wrote (View Post): › 3. Lowest Final Value Fees
Sorry, but outrageously FALSE.
http://www.ldbidz.com/auction/site_fees.php

LDbidz.com: Now is it falls? I have looked around & our Final Value Fee is really one of the lowest...

ldBidz.com wrote (View Post): › Just set up auto bid, set the highest amount you ar willing to pay and go enjoy your life. When someone bids against you it bids automatically for you. Isn't that a great feature?

LDbidz.com:
Ok you say is the most commom feature out there.. yes it is one of the most common, Now you and I know that, I'm not saying I found this new hot feature but simply letting those that do not know about it know...

LDbidz.com: And thank you for your opinion... I fixed a few things but left what i thought necessary...

*sigh* Where have you looked? A quick survey of the Fees column in my spreadsheet (help yourself to a copy - link in my signature) - data gathered from Feb 08 to yesterday, so some may have changed

LDBidz - 10%-3%

Auctionquests - 2%
AuctionsWorldwide.net - 2.5%-4% (unusual reversal)
BidEasyNow - 0%-3%
BidOnUSA - 0
BidTopia - 2.75% ($0.25 fail to sell fee also)
eBid.net - 2% with Gallery Photo, 0% without (if Lifetime Member for $49, less than 5% without)
ok, now limiting to PHP sites:
Dynabid.org - 1%
GBAuctions.co.uk - 3.5%
OvernightAuctions.net - 1%-2% and $0.02 under $1

I can't think of a single small auction site that charges as much as 10% and 5% is rare. A great many are free except for enhancements, or maybe a monthly fee for stores with large inventory. A few larger sites and older sites and dedicated sites might want more, but I still can't think of many in the double digits. That is why I said "outrageously" false.

Please, feel free to use my spreadsheet, where I have collected extensive data and links, to research further. You are likely doing your very nicely designed site a disservice, though I cannot truly advise you what may be best for your business. I can advise you, though, that a great many people here likely read your claims and instantly discarded consideration of your site based on that hype.

Check out the competition and build on your strengths. Oh, most will also discard consideration based on the lack of secure registration and login pages. There are a great many PHPpro sites out there. You have done very nice work with the design, btw - there is a strength - at least on the home page. I am hoping you will look and see how you can set yourself apart from the crowd - nearly impossible though that may be in the reality of the Alternative Marketplace. It's possible this site, which I very recently discovered exists, may have something to help with that - www.ProBidv6Mods.com - I believe the owner helped develop your site software some time ago, so probably has good insight into how it might be "tweaked".

Thanks for listening, and best wishes with your site!

It is his thread, he can keep pushing and promoting it, yes.. but I also think he should not mislead anyone.

Your About Us says you will have 150,000 members in the near future?? You will save members hundreds of millions of dollars?

10% FVF is the highest I've seen of any new site. Then it drops off to 8%... goodness. Are you really helping people save?

Proxy bidding is the auction standard, isn't it? It's nothing special.

With any new site, you really need to understand how to compete with the no listing/no FVF sites, such as Craigslist. Ask yourself why someone should go to your site, with no people bidding and so few items, rather than Craigslist?

Most people on PSU have good knowledge of auction sites, and with so many alternatives, it's really going to be a tough sell. Good luck anyway.

We (you) NEED a National AD campaign.

Are YOU willing to go there?

Ask your peeps to contribute.
Peeps WILL if they feel it will return a + ROI.

If not... well, just more SPAM.

We did have a private chat regarding tailoring advertisements to audience. Competing only with eBay may seem a good idea - but not in this venue. I was told some "objectionable" items were edited, but I have not checked. I had a few suggestions to improve LD's chances for success....

I was thinking more of a long-term thing, I mean keeping stores free of charge, listing fees, pictures and just the charge of FVF’s….

I mean wouldn’t it be better for the seller?

I do listen to the feedback I get from PSU I can try and make it work for everyone…

End of Auction Fees - Paid by Seller.

This is just a sample calculated to highest number

From USD 0.01 To USD 7.00 10.00% $0.70
From USD 7.00 To USD 10.00 8.00% $0.80
From USD 10.00 To USD 50.00 6.00% $3.00
From USD 50.00 To USD 250.00 4.65% $11.62
From USD 250.00 To USD 1,000.00 3.65% $36.50
From USD 1,000.00 To Above 3.00% $30.00

I’m going to try and change those to a more attractive fee that way everyone is happy…

Any Ideas?

I was thinking of a 2.5% flat FVF… and maybe $2 on featured items…

what do you guys think?

You are right they do look like they had something to do with the development, I will look into them i saw what they offer and that's not bad at all...

I'll go and contact them and see if we can add some other features to the site that can benefit the sellers better...

Thanks again for that info.

can i just add i like your site looks smart, and to all other people remember like you we who own auction sites are a business and thus we have to make a living and pay fee's, and at the end of the day you add your fee's to you items anyway so bare this in mind, i think the people leave ebay because they are really deer, and it is so bloody confusing to use

your site does look and feel nice but i really dont think it will take off as you are competing with the likes of ebay, ebid, cqout which are already well estalibished sites and i do not think you will have much of a impact.

sorry if this comment hurts but i think it is the truth i wouldnt join because i cant see you having enough buyers to make sellers join.

Your right getting enough buyers is hard but with enough sellers and enough advertisement we should be able to attract the buyer...

Didn't really hurt just makes me work harder...

thanx for your point of view it really helps...
