I have been seeing these skirmishes and I have been trying to stay out of them and let them die but I am going to stick my nose in where I dont want to because I think this is getting out of hand and not in the spirit of what we were trying to accomplish....this is not site vs site but a SELLER competition.....in fact, it was my understanding that in order for a seller to be eligible for the competition, the seller must actively contact SF or Bobbi so that their stores can be included in this....it looks like sellers that have been winning werent even aware they were in a contest....the seller with the most sales be it from AM or B or a combination of sales from both sites is the winner and that seller should be "signing up" for the contest....this is about sellers who want to have some fun with this, the sites are only a platform for those sellers.....I think that sellers from both sites are happy with the results they are getting....any promoting of the sites can be done within the AM or B threads here on PSU....this shouldnt be a thing of of my site does better than yours....we have too much of that already and my hope has been that AM and B can stay out of that....anyone who is unsure about which site will give them more exposure can easily list identical items on both sites and wait a few days to see how they fare in the search engines....

Bobbi, I appreciate the hard work you have been doing as a tallywhacker and I have been very busy myself or I would have volunteered to help when SF went down.....I should have at least thought about asking for more volunteers to help and I am sorry about that....dlrane has volunteered to help and that should be fine....

All I am saying to everyone and to noone in particular is that we should keep this in perspective and not use this as a chance to promote our favorite venue....this isnt the place for that...we should also be a little bit thicker skinned and be very sure before we accuse someone of promoting a site here....

Concise & Precise as Always Patch Smile

Patch's concerns essentially echo my own. Does this mean that you agree with me after all?

I really am appalled that you would continue to act in an accusatory manner toward me to embellish your own site.

What you are doing is unacceptable as a community business leader and showing a continual lack of "Best Practices". You initiated the entire episode with your many implications last night and I believe that what I have disclosed is nothing more than a self-centered egotist who is falling behind in the pack and wants all the attention he can garner.

I have received so many supportive emails, PMs, IMs, phone calls with hearty thanks on what I have done without aid and then to be hypocritically berated by you initially on the forums, then through PMs that once I receive, they are mine to do with as I wish.

You have made your own bed and you may now lay in it.

Calling on Kudos is really infantile, and shows the length to which you have stooped.

You also have failed to point out the exact location - The Bonanzle Thread that my encouraging comments were on........are you so paranoid that you visit it often to pick your battles?

Very true Linda, including a contest where listing counts are the only criteria. In fact I believe it would be much easier to "rig" that type of contest. It would also put smaller sellers at a distinct disadvantage over the powersellers who could simply upload their 15,000 item inventories with very little effort, and walk away with the prize. In my opinion, making it sales-based evens the playing field somewhat. Individuals with smaller inventories can help make up for that potential impediment by listing more desirable items, adding eye-catching ad copy, using pricing leverage, etc.

I know several members who could simply flip a switch at either site and bulk-upload themselves into the winner's circle. That's not really very sporting OR interesting though.

And for someone who wanted nothing to do with said contest you confirmed what would be correct......I don't believe the other site got involved at all....... This was a contest held between sellers, involving sellers and rewarding sellers.

Where are you in that mix?

If I may take this in a different direction. First off I want to give me best wishes for Science Fare to get better, I'm going to light a candle for your good health at services this Sunday.

Back to where I'm headed. I'm very impressed that AM and B would get together and do this whole seller contest. Everyone kept saying that sites should band together to take down the evil empire and this could be the beginnings of a consortium that does this very thing. Remember what they say, it takes a spark to start a fire.

How is the desire to have a frank, private conversation with one individual "embellishing" my site? The only reason this conversation is public now is because you made it so.

Quote: › What you are doing is unacceptable as a community business leader and showing a continual lack of "Best Practices".

Please provide examples to substantiate both accusations.

Quote: › I believe that what I have disclosed is nothing more than a self-centered egotist who is falling behind in the pack and wants all the attention he can garner.

Once again, if it was attention I was trying to garner, I wouldn't have initiated the exchange in a private forum. Were you under the assumption that once made public, I would not contribute my side of the story?

Quote: › I have received so many supportive emails, PMs, IMs, phone calls with hearty thanks on what I have done without aid and then to be hypocritically berated by you initially on the forums

And you should be commended for your willingness to volunteer. I applaud that. But when your actions later serve to distort the original intent of the contest with partisan embellishment, I think it's unreasonable for you to expect that no one would voice a concern. That's all I was doing, as anyone can (now) see for themselves.

Quote: › You have made your own bed and you may now lay in it.

A reprimand perhaps more appropriate for someone who has done something wrong. I haven't.

Quote: › Calling on Kudos is really infantile, and shows the length to which you have stooped.

All I was really seeking was something along the lines of "ok Mike, I see your point and I'll try to present the contest results accurately and without taking sides". That would've taken 20 seconds of your time, one PM, and done. Instead you chose to ignore my simple request and escalate this to what it has become now. These were your choices, not mine.

Quote: › You also have failed to point out the exact location - The Bonanzle Thread that my encouraging comments were on........are you so paranoid that you visit it often to pick your battles?

No I'm not paranoid at all. Nor am I infantile. But it is interesting to note who began the accusatory name-calling.

As for the "exact location" of your latest comment, it is here, in post #1246:

I never said I wanted nothing to do with the contest. I said I disapproved of a site v site contest. I had no problem being one of the host sites in a seller competition.

Quote: › ......I don't believe the other site got involved at all....... This was a contest held between sellers, involving sellers and rewarding sellers.

...yet presented as "site X is ahead of site Z".

Neither site was in "the mix" until you put them there.

You are no longer worthy of my attention, please find a new whipping post. You are not my boss, my husband, my father or even at this point a respectable professional. You thrive on conflict, that is quite evident and I will no longer play your games.

Good Luck in your Future Endeavors while inquisitve Sellers look for places to set up shop. They have a pretty dicey view of your disposition, personality, and support.

I actually couldn't agree more. I just feel that if a contest is advertised one way, it should not be presented as something else halfway through the event. Call me crazy.

edited to add: I spoke with Sciencefare recently and he is doing much better now. Starting to get his strength back.

I told you in one of our private conversations I was more than willing to drop the issue. Instead, you decided to escalate it by going public with our private correspondence, in an attempt (I assume) to tarnish my reputation. The fact that I am defending myself now should therefore not come as a surprise to you. Again, these were your choices.

Quote: › You are not my boss, my husband, my father or even at this point a respectable professional.

Of course I'm not any of the first three things. Naturally I disagree with the last accusation, which I've noted you made several times. As neither your boss, husband or father, I haven't demanded that you do anything. I merely made a simple and reasonable request, which you chose not to take seriously.

Quote: › You thrive on conflict, that is quite evident and I will no longer play your games.

Actually that's not true. I generally tend to avoid conflict, except when I'm forced to defend my reputation or the reputation of my business against false or misleading accusations.

Quote: › Good Luck in your Future Endeavors while inquisitve Sellers look for places to set up shop. They have a pretty dicey view of your disposition, personality, and support.

Thank you for the good luck sentiments. One thing sellers, buyers and everyone in between can always expect from me is that I will be completely honest and open in my dealings with them. I admit my approach is direct and to the point, and I am not as skilled in the art of "schmoozing" as some. I also have no problem allowing anyone to make their own judgments as to whether or not they can accept my disposition, personality, and support.

Mike

I am thankful for the ignore button.

I also want to thank all the generous support that I have received and still receiving from Bonanzle and Atomic Mall members.

My Reflections link was a big hit today with over 1700 hits. Glad to share with one and all.

I have sent PMs to Dlrane & Patchdog who further offered to assist today in the contest.

I joined myself not long ago stephan and am really liking it so far. I have had some pretty good sales so far.

@those with shipping problems,
I recently just started doing Free Shipping on all my items and just figure it into the price. I have been getting more sales as of late, and feel this is the contributing factor. feebay has made such a big deal out of the 'noisy' scammer sellers and shipping rates, that I am finding my customers like the one price includes all format. It is easier for them, they can't complain about overcharging, and there is no math involved. If my product says 20.00, my customers know that is the total price: hook, line and sinker!!! JMO

I was just wondering what happened when blujay or some of those other sites started. Was there a rush like there is for Bonanzle? I haven't been here that long, so just wondering.

No, Bonanza is the only site that truly has ever grown as quickly as it has. Even way back when in the old days, FeeBay never took off like this. The other sites have been diminished due to a variety of inadequacies, and lack of inspirational leadership. With all the fun and ease of Bonanzle, it is far surpassing even media predictions. And now the media is boldly commenting daily on all the great features there.
