Goodstuff, there is a file for OLA on the BBB and I added to it. I encourage others to join me.

I would suggest the following:
1: Contact the local-to-them BBB in Oregon
2: Checking under the misspelling of onlineauctionS (note added "S"". I personally made this mistake when filing my report, which lead to my calling and talking to a very informative woman at that BBB office.
3: Look at the TOTAL number of complaints filed; not the total number of unresolved complaints. It is rather common, I have been lead to believe, for a company to "resolve" ( or claim to ) an issue, so it will not show up on a cursory search.

Turns out there are rather more than three complaints.

www.ripoffreport.com I think there has been 4-6 complaints already on file, just search onlineauction.com
I'd just like to point out that the BBB IS there for consumers to report businesses that act inappropriately, and that the BBB DOES respond to consumer complaints.

When a consumer files a complaint, BBB contacts the business, and the response from the business goes on record publicly.

So, if you have an issue with a business, DO contact the BBB.

Now, while the BBB has no real teeth, and can't force a business to straighten out, all consumer complaints against a business are tallied up and become public records. Additionally, with sufficient complaints, the BBB will disallow the use of the BBB seal for a business.

Hope this helps a bit. Cool

Today Again I visited NationalBBBsite & again Per the BBB's national website there have only been 3 reports to them in regards to onlineauction.com. Also those seem to match the files at the 'bbboregonsite' Below is a summary of the bbb's page I removed non-pertinent info and or duplicate contact info etc.

Report as of October 1, 2008 14:21CopyrightŠ 2008 Better Business Bureau

Also I checked misspelling or other referrals to onlineauction.com (OLA and onlineauctionS.com
NO Matching FILE was found for OLA.com Although there were 200 files that contained the three letters ola but not one of them was involved with onlineauction.com in any way shape or form.

NO FILE was found for onlineauctionS.com

Now as for ripoffreport you have to take those with a grain of salt because just about anyone can go there and report what they want to say without verification of the facts.
I am not a onlineauction.com supporter or a cheerleader. I did check it out before and I think I had opened an account way back when but have never sold there and I do not remember buying there either. I am just passing on OFFICIAL RESULTS from the BBB's site to dispell RUMOURS

GoodStuff, possibly the numbers are not updated on a regular basis. I know for a fact of a member who filed a complaint recently. Maybe they do not list complaints until they are "resolved". There is most definitely a current complaint filed.

These numbers are what are on the BBB's site as of Today there is a date stamp October 1 I included from the BBB site. They could have reports that have not been added to the website yet. However they do post unresolved also. If you wish to see an example of that visit the BBB site and search for ebay.

GoodStuff, Thanks for the info. I've already seen the member's report and case number assigned to it by the BBB. I don't need to check the BBB site. I've seen the proof that the complaint exists. That's good enough for me. I've also seen several other case numbers of other reports the same member made against OLA to other organizations. I am also considering filing a complaint.

I do know that BBB does research reports to verify facts etc before they actually put anything in a businesses file. That being said from all the talk I see lately I would expect to see more issues added after verifications of reports.

One would hope so. I think it is very important that all the failings of OLA be made public so that people can make educated decisions before they hand over $200 of their hard earned money to this company.

Sorry Pinto, I didn't think I'd need a link; was when I went on my scorched-earth-complain-to-anyone-that-stands-still-long-enough rant regarding OLA. I believe I just did a google search for the BBB in Oregon, and that got me the phone number, which lead me tto the woman there, etc..

The woman I talked to is the one that told me about how " resolved" complaints do not show up, etc.

Trident, apparently everything does not show up as evidenced by the report that I know was definitely filed by a fellow member last week but apparently does not appear when a BBB seach is done. I find it hard to believe there have only been three complaints made re: OLA -- after all, it has been around for 10 years in different incarnations. I highly doubt it was run any better then than it is now. I also believe what is written on the rip off report is straight shooting from the heart complaints. Why would anyone bother making up stories in such detail. Surely one has better things to do with their time than fabricate complaints -- there is nothing for them to gain from filing a report.
