PostPosted: Wed Aug 23, 2006 6:53 pm   Post subject:  OLA expects "millions" of members #1  Back to top

This is a message I ran across today in OLA chat..
*******************************************************
I want to take a moment, on behalf of Chris Fain and the entire OLA Staff, to personally assure everyone we are working hard to build a site where Buyers & Sellers want to be. In order to facilitate this happening it meant migrating to an entirely new platform. WHY? Because we believe in no time we will need a far more robust site to handle a huge influx of new members and because we understand the importance of adding new features and making member recommended changes in a matter of days versus weeks, all of which we now have.

The staff at OLA made a consious decision to do this huge migration before we had millions of members. It is our intent to address everyone's concerns as quickly as possible. Anyone wishing to talk directly to a staff member please call 1-800-900-2828 or email support@onlineauction.com.

We hope that the support and patience of our member base continues just a little longer. We promise it will be worth the wait.

***********************************************************

MILLIONS of members??? New Features? Member Recommended changes? Funny, all I see is a site that's sooo messed up that sellers are leaving...I can't EVER imagine a million members there? Can you?

You've probably read our posts on OLA Bashing and the Wish List going back to January 06. No, I can't imagine a million users. Much, much more has to change and I think this "upgrade" is going to set them back quite a bit, especially the longer it drags on.

Amen! The longer it takes the more it shows how unorganized they are.. However I bet they could orchestrate a vast complex pyramid scheme to snag investors ahem, founding members.... Its just a amatter of what your talents are...

They could always use a smooth talker like Meg. I was watching a re-run of The Ebay Effect on CNBC, and I figured the thing with Meg is that she knows how to schmooze the people that count -- obviously not the sellers of Ebay!

Meg and CARDMANLOU have something in common, though -- Meg says sellers sell crap and CARDMANLOU says sellers sell things that nobody wants to buy.

Well, I sold two of my items that "nobody wants to buy" on Etsy this morning, so that site just brought some of the "fun" back to this seller's life Laughing

I am not too sure what upgrades the OLA users asked for before we returned to OLA, but getting rid of almost all of the HTML, charging $1.00 now to end your listing early (not something we signed up for as they allowed offsite sales...guess they need $$$), messing the site up so badly without testing....THESE ARE THE UPGRADES????
We also saw "NUTMEG" on CNBC. Did you notice she NEVER answered the reporters' questions? Each time he asked her anything about the new fee increases and if she had anything to say to us angry Sellers, she NEVER answered the question. I would rather see Baba Walters do the interview as she wouldn't have let "NutMeg" off the hook on that. On the Stock message board they are nominating for a replacement for "NutMeg" and someone posted the Geico Lizard.....LOL!!! I would actually vote for him...I love that guy .. (Not my picture, I had to find it on the net)

awww....that's cute...kinda.

I'm a lurker on the message boards over on OLA. From what I've read and keep reading...is the constant barage of complaints and problems with the entire site. I'm glad I'm not selling there now. I'm sure I'd be hopping mad if my listings were as screwed up as the new "improved" site.

I'm listing at BidVille and Etsy in the coming weeks. Hopefully, something good will come sometime soon.

Suzie

How do I get pictures into my posts? Confused

I didn't see Meg on the CNBC thing. I did see the Ina Steiner interview from AuctionBytes. That was good. I know I was dying to see a followup to that with Meg guess I missed it. Yeah, Walters would be good. Mike Wallce would be good, too. He always asked tough questions and watched them squirm. A lot of times he got answers. I think he should come out of retirement for this one.

I would be more than happy to vote for the Gecko. Great spokesman. That little guy in that pic is cute. We once had a tiny gecko. Really adorable, but very fast and you really had to be careful he didn't escape out of his habitat.

I got tired of the "fledgling site" argument -- excuse -- so I mentioned -- oh, oh, here come the pinks -- LowBid and DealGates. Both are already light years head of OLA fresh out of the gate, no whining, big promises, or coolaid.

It seems that CARDMAN has spoken and everything will be fine tomorrow -- kid you, not, right there on the boards. Maybe he's getting his wish and they're bringing the old site back. Maybe CARDMAN sprouted some hidden skills and he's taken over the IT department.

In any case, me and my unsellable, crappy items are out of there for good Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Sorry, I don't have the time to go through this whole thread, but I just wanted to say that my listings seemed screwed up on OLA after "the change", but they look alright now Exclamation Question Exclamation Also, I see where ALL my sales from day one are listed, so it has helped me get my book work straight...2 positive things to thank God about... Very Happy Very Happy

A DOLLAR to end a listing(s) early??? That's freakin' hysterical!!! Is this supposed to slow the exodus of sellers? Until now, I thought eBay was the epitome of money grubbin'!!

Been LOTS of talk here about reporting OLA to the better business bureau, but how many former OLA sellers here have actually reported OLA to the better business bureau (BBB) and how many people plan on doing it? Just curious because it seems from these forums and forums at NUMEROUS other sites that their are ALOT of disgruntled OLA sellers saying that there are going to do this.

Per the BBB's national website there have only been 3 reports to them in regards to onlineauction.com.

I doubt if you get much reaction from the BBB because its meant for business not consumer, better if you file a report on

www.ripoffreport.com I think there has been 4-6 complaints already on file, just search onlineauction.com
