Found this at a garage sale. They had it marked as a mail box. When I opened up all the doors, don't think so. It has National on it a few places. The tag shows made in 1918. It has a number counter labeled LID Counter. Thinking it might be a add on to a old cash register. Like maybe sales slips.
I have taken several pictures you'll find at my Windows Spaces. Please take a look.
Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the headsup! I think the link works now. |

The link you have posted for the item does not seem to work...Perhaps you can try again to get an active link posted.

My first thought is that it is a cabinet that held a cash register in the top section and perhaps some sort of filing system in the bottom section...
I am in no way positive of this information, just making a suggestion as to what it could be....

I figured that the register would sit in the top section, and is attached to the bell, so it would go "DING" upon a sale....
Just can not quite sure exactly would go underneath..Almost have to be some sort of filing/paperwork system....Have to keep working on this one....
Have you got any model numbers?

I think this is part of their machine - Class 1000 - that was used in conjunction with the OK telephone credit verification system in dept. stores.
Frank Patterson and his brother Henry bought the Ritty (inventor) patents and founded NCR in 1884. They went on to buy out other register patents and companies.
I'm not sure - but the paperwork inside seems to support this. Register parts like these usually get good money. |

It states to re order sales books from NCR for the NCR Credit file.

Hi Bobbi85710, That's something I had not thought of and can see why you might think that. I went on the NCR website and sent a message to them. I'll let eeveryone know when and if they respond. Thanks for your input! |

Hi Maggie, that would make sense. I found a comment on the item stating "to reorder sales books through NCR, NCR Credit File.
Thanks much for your input!
