I warn you though about contacting them. I did for this issue and they required me to verify my SSN. When I did that my account became locked because my SSN was apparently linked to another account that had a negative balance. It appears my son had used to to upgrade his account when he was 14. OK no problem, I paid off his balance so everything should be OK right? No. My account is locked and money is frozen until I verify my SSN which I can't do because it is linked to his account still. His account is locked because of the previous past negative balance so he can't access it to remove the SSN and verify his SSN and according to Paypal his account won't be reopened until after a complete review which can take up to 60 days. Meanwhile I'm caught with my money frozen. Paypal keeps accepting payments for auctions but I have no way to get the money. I'm shipping packages out of my own pocket even just to keep them happy. Customer Service was no help and recommeded I seek legal help to get to my assets. BOO PAYPAL. |

According to what I see it's fixed. They created patch over the weekend and except for one really screwed up transaction, the rest of locked up funds were released overnight.

You can also do this:
Do NOT USE the eBay invoicing system.
Simply go directly to Paypal and send a money request and check "goods" or anything else except for eBay Auction.
eBay is the culprit here, not Paypal.
Using eBay for invoicing causes the FLAG to be sent to Paypal... |

I don't know if mine is an isolated case but wanted everyone to know so they can check and make sure it didn't happen to them.
2 weeks ago, Paypal had an issue with "claiming" echecks. This affected many sellers although they never really formally acknowledged it. We got the letter stating that we made $10,000 a month and must manually claim echeck payments once they cleared. OK, so this was a Paypal glitch and after calling customer service they admitted they were aware of the glitch and were working on the problem. In the meantime we had our hands tied. The money had come out of the customers accounts but were not in ours. I could already see the DSR's dropping. After a nice conversation with Chris (Paypal CSR) on October 30 at 6:41 EST he assured me the problem would be corrected and made temporary deposits to cover the amount of the 3 echecks that were in "la-la land". According to Chris, when the problem was fixed the checks would be credited to my account and the temporary deposits reversed. Since the money had been received into my account, items were shipped and all is good.
Until today!!! Paypal has finally corrected their glitch aparently. They took back the temporary deposit and marked the pending payments as denied. Ouch!! Now I'm out the money AND the product. Time for another call to Paypal. And that is when it gets good. It seems they think I just need to email my customer (who already has product, money back and received good feedback), explain the situation and request another payment. Have they lost their minds? First, why should I have to do anything for a Paypal error and secondly although I feel most customers are honest, why would they go ahead and pay me now?
Again the reason for this post is to inform others so you can check your accounts and make sure it didn't happen to you. IMO, this is just another "glitch" in Paypal so they can hang onto the money for just a little longer until they resolve their cash flow issues. Read my blog for my real opinion about Paypal/eBay. |

I was caught up in this echeck nightmare also. Instead of waiting for paypal to fix the problem for me I just took it on myself to get my funds. This will only work if you have echecks showing as "unclaimed".
I contacted my customer and told them about the glitch and thanked them for their understanding in the matter. Since the echeck had cleared I refunded the payment and it went into their paypal account as a cash balance. So they could turn right around and pay me with a balance transfer. All of the customers were very understanding and were very nice about it. |

dlrane,
I agree with the no echecks policy but can't afford to risk having my listings cancelled. I know alot of sellers list it in their auctions but eBay's official policy states "Important: If you offer PayPal as a payment option on eBay (either using logos or text in the item description) you must accept ALL forms of PayPal payment including account balance, bank account transfer, and credit cards." I'm sure Paypal would stick up for the buyer on this too. lol... |

As far as making feebay work... it is only short term to offload the merchandise I don't want to carry in my online stores. I'm going to concentrate on magazines only, more mature crowd than video games anyway and less disputes. I made a post in eBay section concerning my eBay departure and the more I endure the more Im glad it's coming to an end. As a BTW, IMO eBay will be out of business or sold by next Christmas. Paypal may hang on but I doubt it. I think Google will buy them out!! |
