I wish blujay had a font, color & a right/left/center position for the description.
But I love the 4 picture option!
Can't complain when it's free though, but not really complaining anyway
Love the super easy listing, as well..

#1 Buyers & lots of traffic
#2 Good Search Engines with a variety of different ways to search (completed, location, etc)
#3 Easy/automated invoicing & automatic payment method on-site so a buyer could pay as soon as they've won. (also the ability to edit invoices/resend them as well.) |

If you have any suggestions or features you want in a auction site please list them here. We need to share our ideas to help improve the other auction sites so they can complete with eBay.
here are my 2 cents
I have heard from many people with over 98% feedback with 1000+ transactions move to other auction sites just to start all over again.
It would be great to come up with a feature where you can import your ebay rating to another online auction site.

I don't like feedback at all. Far too much attention is focused on feedback. on ebay, your feedback can make or break you, and you are at the mercy of anyone leaving it for you.(I have 100% on feebay, but I know when I get that first one, it will turn buyers off as long is it's on the 1st page).
I think a new auction site shouldn't mention anything about ebay. why hype up the competition? I hate how ioffer mentions ebay all the time.

Ah, now there's a thought forensics, BUYERS, TRAFFIC & search engines that really work sort of like "the other place" so buyers can find our dang listings when they do find the sites, LOL |

I think that the best way to start fresh and anew is to make a clean break from FEEBAY.
Even if your feedback is good,it does not properly represent your feedback on your new site and is misleading your new customers on your new site that you have a lot of feedback on the new site, when in fact you do not.
Make a clean break ,start fresh and new...and build a relationship with customers that represents and reflects your new site..
It is kind of like keeping an old picture of your ex wife displayed on your mantle when you are married to someone else. lol
That's my opinion on this topic anyway. |

My feature wish list (not in any priority order):
1. Shipping Calculator
2. Sell Similar feature for listings
3. Ability to input an inventory number that shows up in Sales and is a search criteria |

deal breakers:
1. Shipping calculator
2. Bulk listing program, not just file submission
3. Bulk listing management, i.e. ending, relisting
4. reasonable fees
5. search engine submission & advertising
6. Combined invoicing
7. subcategories
8. search
A shipping calculator that automatically displays the calculated shipping to the buyer when they view a search page or the listing. Based on the weight & handling specified by the seller, from the sellers address to the buyers address. There are free shopping cart programs that can do this, yet none of the alternative auction/marketplace sites have this ability.
I would rather use a bulk listing program similar to eBay than submit a file for the site manager to insert into the database. As a site becomes larger and the volume increases, it must become burdensome to manage all the file insertions.
The ability to end or edit large numbers of listings in bulk is very important. In the event of a listing error or other situation.
I have a real problem with paying up front fees to list on these alternative sites that have limited or no traffic, little or no advertising, little or no sales, and little or no similar listings. Conversely, a promise to never charge fees for listing or for a store limits the future options of the sites management. This also limits the ability of a site to hire quality programmers to properly upgrade the software as needed by future volume and to purchase additional server space.
When one of these alternative sites becomes a viable competitor to ebay, they will need to add listing fees if for no other reason than to reduce the clutter that will drive buyers away.
In my opinion, the only way for an alternate site to become truly competitive is to start with free listing and by charging a smaller percentage than ebay does for sales, probably half would make sense. And not charge for the gallery picture. Free or nearly free stores to start, with a clear understanding of when the monthly charge will begin. A milepost or perhaps a time period, like one year free, then $x.xx (but still less than ebay) reasonably based on its position in the online market.
Anything less and the site will not have the resources needed to grow or advertise.
We all know advertising costs money, and google is no exception. But any alternate site that doesn't have the ability to submit a google feed is never going to be viable.
Lets face it ebay is successful because the basic model met the needs of buyers and sellers. Until recently you could search for stuff, you could browse for stuff and not get lost in the sheer volume of "not what you're looking for". Alternate sites don't search well enough or they don't have sufficient subcategories to match the products available with the buyers.
After sale management is crucial to the success of an alternate site. Sellers need to be notified of the sale, buyers need a confirmation email, buyers and sellers need to be able to combine sales to facilitate payments.
Non paying & bad buyers and bad sellers need to be kicked off the site, a reasonable verification system could help here but must not be to burdensome or it will drive buyers away.
I suggest that buyers be allowed to view and commit to buy before a verification is required. Once a new buyer commits to buy a listing, they should be redirected to a registration page that collects sufficient information to adequately verify who they are. This could include credit/debit card validation and a one time fee to cover the cost of processing, such as $0.50.
My shopping cart doesn't require a login or register a new user until they begin the checkout process. Then the checkout automatically registers them after they enter their personal information as part of the sale. |

If you find a site that uses paypal, paypal members are already verified and so is their shipping address,if it is not ,a notice is displayed that the address is not verified and they will be covered under the buyer protection policy that paypal offers.
Freewebs Web Store has options to use google checkout and paypal. Check it for free .You are able to list 10 products as a free member to try it out. |

Spammer... Promoting your fav does nothing to improve the discussion.
Not to mention that the site mentioned is not an alternative to ebay, etc etc etc. |

art you are off topic and yes the site I mentioned is an alternative to ebay.
You mentioned in your discussion that you would like a site that verifies customers, well paypal does,as if you didn't know..but obviously you just wanted to promote your own store cart and talk about that for like 3 paragraphs.
So who is exactly the spammer here?
People in glass houses should not throw stones.
Try to stay on topic next time in your post Art .
For one,if I was purchasing an item,I would not pay .50 to get verified..that is ridiculous.
I would opt out of your cart if your cart started asking personal information.. |
