I've been trying to use the selling manager for the first time ever and it keeps locking up - I not only loose the listing I'm working on, but my template, too. Anyone else having good/bad luck with this tool??

To use Yahoo's Auction Manager you have to have a feedback score of 10 or more.. If you have a feedback score of 10 or more and still cannot use it, try uninstalling it and reinstall it.. Good Luck!

There is a Yahoo group to help with tech stuff about Yahoo Auctions.. It's ran buy some really nice people. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/yauctionsellers/

Thanks, Maggie. I've joined that group. I finally just listed using the form on Yahoo's site (easy form to use), but even so the computer gremlins were, indeed, busy yesterday. For awhile it wouldn't let me edit the listing I forgot to put the picture in (said I wasn't the seller). I reported that to Yahoo and about half an hour later it all worked fine. Then my IP went down so I couldn't do anything at all. Some days technology just ain't such fun!

I'm successfully using the YSM....and this is the only bulk lister besides Bidville's original one that I have never been able to break, nor have I had to use fancy spreadsheet workarounds. LOL

What specifically is it doing or not doing for you?

And btw....I don't (yet) have a fb score of 10.

PostPosted: Sat Dec 02, 2006 3:04 am   Post subject: Snif ! Re: Is anyone using Yahoo's Seller's Manager #8  Back to top

Type I took a two month hiatus from using Yahoo's Seller's Manager. When I tried to use it last week, I had access problems. I downloaded the new version and did all the things recommend to troubleshoot the issue. I have loaded 100's of items using the YSM and I used it before I had any score! Of course I have written to Yahoo for assistance which is non existent. They have NEVER responded to any technical issues that I have written to them about.

So here I am with 50 new listings that I can't upload! I used this program in the past and posted over 250 listings with no problem. Six months on Yahoo, I only sold 4 items, so sales were not great there either. I just thought I would give it another try for the Christmas holiday's. Another waste of time.

One good venue is all I need. I tried Overstock.com last year and had NPB's. This year I tried OLA and sold one item out of over 250 listings. I terminated my membership and they continued to take a monthly fee for two months, promised to give it back and never did! If I list on eBay, I SELL, but the fees are out of control! I closed my eBay store on October 22nd and my sells have plummeted.

I started my own web store, but had to change hosts because I made a bad first choice. I now pay $50 a year instead of $60+ per month! Unfortunately, the learning curve to learn how to set up an osCommerce store (free store) was a big one. It meant learning to be more affluent in HTML and PHP. I was trying to created a CSV file a few weeks ago and accidently deleted one of my critical database files. Six weeks of work and 1,000 listings were gone and I had to start over! I am so completely frustrated!

I wasted a eighteen months building my eBay store; another 2 months on OLA; months on Yahoo. I spent two months building my first website, change over, and now I lost six weeks of work right before Christmas! If I didn't have over $10,000 of inventory sitting here, I would just quit!

Well, now that I have vented, does anyone know how to solve my Yahoo upload problem? The message I am getting is, " Invalid column name: (featuredAmount) Please consult the column reference guide and correct the column names in your csv and correct the column names in your csv"

Hi Sharron,

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles!

Are you using the Yahoo Seller Manager or the spreadsheet upload? If it's the Yahoo Seller Manager, that's an odd error message I've never seen.

I checked the sample spreadsheet file on Yahoo, and there's no field by the name of featuredAmount, so you must mean the YSM.

Be right back while I try to fire up mine. It's been a few months.

Ok...my bad. My YSM is on my laptop, which isn't here. I also can't find it anywhere on Yahoo. That's really weird!! Shocked Are they doing away with it or something?

If it's any consolation, I clicked on Options while in My Auctions, and it took me to the Auctions home page. ROFLMAO

I am using the YAHOO SELLER'S MANAGER program not the bulk uploader. The good news is that I seemed to have resolved my YSM upload problems and was finally able to upload my 50 new listings. I found a post on the Yahoo bulletin board that was extremely helpful Yahoo Troubleshooting Guide for YSM that was posted by another Yahoo member. I hope this link works and you are able to read it because is gives some very useful information.

I wanted to let you all know what I learned as I went through this process. I posted a very lengthy message on the Yahoo Community Forum, but I will keep it brief here.

Notes:
1) I have a score of 4 and was not restricted from using YSM, as was posted on the YSM information and mentioned by another member.

2) I have seen claims that Yahoo is not making YSM compatible with Windows XP, but that is the operating system I use and I was ultimately able to upload the listings.

3) The error messages I received did not correctly identify the problem. What I discovered in the "troubleshooting guide" is that you cannot have html for a photo link within the description portion of the listing. I was able to leave my website link, but without the photo link, I was able to upload the new listings.

My newest problem is that none of the photos that I uploaded in the listings are showing in the gallery. I verified the photos were uploaded by looking at the listing itself, but all that shows up in the gallery listing or grid view is the little camera icon.

Another interesting problem is with a listing that originally had a photo in it. The photo disappeared and I edited the auction three times and added different photos. Each time the I was told the upload was successful, but after submitting the auction I went to the auction and no photo! Now I am totally unable to edit it or delete it. The listing was an important one (2) Tickle Me Elmo's, and I have not had one page view. If I am looking to buy, I always look at the gallery photos, so I feel they are important. I just wondered if anyone had this problem.

OK let's try this again. First of all, Sharron, I'm sad to hear about your situation. It was certainly disheartening.

Can you post the link or direct me to the site you found helpful in resolving your YSM issues.

Anyway, I'm currently unemployed(other than some lanscaping) and have been so since I graduated with an MBA from Indiana last year. What a waste; that was my rant. I'm thinking of getting into the online/auctions game but I experienced all the hardships you spoke of in 1 week.

I have an extensive Sports card collection and have been trying to sells them(and maybe start a little card store.) I've found EBays and the double team Paypals fees to be aggregious, yahoo items that get 10 bids on ebay get maybe one on yahoo and I've never heard of the other sites you spoke of. Can you elaborate on them.

Also, where, honestly, can I find wholsalers to sell goods from.

Your experience is grealty appreciated.

Steve
