Just a "buyer thought". If one only lists a few things, one may miss out on sales, especially where shipping cost may be an important factor. It has happened that someone has something I want, and I have added other things they have that I was not specifically looking for just because of the combined shipping factor (though I gotta like the extras, of course).

It has happened that more than one seller has something I want (especially books, or gently used kids clothes) and even though the item I was looking for is more expensive, the seller that has the rest of a set (book series, outfits) will end up with the sale because of, again, the cost of shipping. Sometimes I will not buy at all if I can only find the one item and nothing that "goes with it".

So... if other buyers think as I do... the more you list of (especially) related items and offer combined shipping, the more likely you are to make a sale. I think some call this "upselling". I call it finding the whole set in one fell swoop. Hope this helps someone. (especially me Twisted Evil)

Lynik,
Auction8.com[/google] is a multifaceted site with multiple owners so there are significant resources. It is also not there for the owners to get rich ripping off the members. It is the only site I have ever heard of that's willing to give 50% of the profits to charity so people can be helped. Lots of people have jumped on the bandwagon claiming to be ebay alternatives. Unfortunately, most won't last long. Sellers are tired of being fleeced & working long hours to make someone else wealthy.

Sorry I did not mean any offence at all it was just a question ... we are not claiming to be a Ebay alternative and have no intentions of fleecing any one ... I meant no harm by my question sorry if I offended anyone ... anyone who helps Charitys I think that is good.Lynik

No problem, when I looked at your site I thought I saw a banner in the upper right hand corner saying ebay alternative. You did very well to get 7 sales out of 17 members.

Hi, Yes we do have a Banner with Ebay Alternatives sorry again got a bit concerned last night that you got offend by my previous question , what I meant was we do not claim to be another Ebay. Nor are we saying we are taking Ebay on or anything like that.
We now have 21 members , thank you for the congratulations on our Sales. Lynik.

May I ask, how long have you been at Ebid, and how many auctions have you listed? do you have a store set up there?

Obviously it is going to take a lot of work to start fresh at a new auction site.. the problem is, sellers that have been selling on Greedbay for a long time, very easily forget how hard it was, and how long it took them to make their first sales.. I'd been at Fleabay since early '00.. I started selling shortly after (my sizable coin collection at the time..) and It took me exactly 48 days before making my first sale there, meanwhile I'd been listing at Yahoo auctions , and I'd been selling steadily , but I just was not getting good bids there..

but I stuck with FeeBay, and currently have 4.7 or better DSR's (even shipping) closing in on 400 100% positive feedback... and I'm still moving everything to Ebid myself.. and completely abandoning NaziBay once I've done that.. I insert a flyer into every package I ship, advertising that I'm moving all my auctions to ebid.. asking buyers to go visit .. it is the one thing SnoopBay cant stop me from doing.. Will also be contacting every buyer in my list on PayPal within the last 60 days or so, notifying them of the same..
[/quote]

I have been on Ebid since May of this year. I have listed 8 to 10 things since then and no sales. That was the reason I took some of them and moved them to Ebay last Thurs. I already have bids on 2 of my items. (1 was within 20 mins of listing.)

I really don't want to list things for months hoping for a sale. Ebay is expensive but free listings are only good if you sell.

I might just try to hang with Ebay to see how some of these other sites develop. It is too much work to keep changing sites hoping for a sale.

I haven't been selling for long so I haven't built up a list of buyers. I sell one of a kind things so I don't really have a lot of repeat buyers. I thought about sending info to my more recent buyers but I was afraid that it is overstepping my boundaries.

Some people don't like unasked for messages from others. I ran into that several times so I am a not sure I want to do that.

Hi Ladywas , Yes I have seen you on Ebid ... I have been on Ebid since 15 Jan this year .. Yes I do have a shop well I have two Shops on Ebid .. at the moment I have 16 things listed but at one time I had over 80 .. I,m not really sure what you are asking ? .. I was not saying any thing against Ebid .. I think if you go onto Ebid Forum a lot of people are saying sales are slow Lynik

Also, I sell video games and was looking at OnlineAuction.com and there wasn't even a category for video games. Don't know if this would be to my advantage or not. Will have to try it out and see Smile

hi greedygert have you tried www.gamebidder.co.uk this is just for gaming and they give you 30 days free listing
the fees are alot cheaper then ebay
