Hello all!
I'm thinking about adding Yahoo to my list of sites I'm selling on. What are the fees? Anything else I should know? |

Zip. Zero. Nada. Zilch.
No Listing Fees. No Final Value Fees. FREE / FREE !!
If you'll poke through or search PSU, you'll find several discussions re: Yahoo! Auctions. Some folks are doing alright. Some folks can't get the system to verify them. Lotsa' info, just dig around a bit.
They have buyers and the price is right
G'luck! |

How do they make money off of the auctions then? Sounds like there is a catch somewhere. |

2BOYSandTOYS - thanks for the warm welcome.
I have been an ebay seller since Nov 2002. I have been a Powerseller for all of that time with the exception of the first year and the last 3 months. Sigh.
Where have the buyers gone and the ebay fees are a killer.
I listed a couple items on the yahoo site, but when I look at closed items, traffic seems dead over there.
I now have tons of stock that I am loosing money on. It's tough. |

You're welcome - one great thing about Yahoo is you can explore 'closed' items to see what price your type of products is selling for!! So - say you sell books. You can go to books, and then drill down on the type, click on closed and it'll only show you those that successfully closed, and what type of prices.
Yahoo does not have the traffic that ebaY has. That's for sure! But - I believe it's gaining in popularity every day. Unfortunately, no site will compare to ebaY for the near term - the goal is to get exposure as many places as possible - and hope for the best!!
Best of sales to you - and hope all sales pick up for all trying to go beyond ebaY!! |

Thank you, and I wish the same for you.
I use the closed sales viewing feature in ebay all the time, so I expected it to be there in Yahoo. I listed a small handfull of things to see what happens.
I was a bit discouraged when I looked at other peoples closed things and I saw dates back in April, and March.
Oh well. It should be an interesting holiday sales season. |

I sell on yahoo. September was really a good month, thanks to a couple of buyers. I thought about listing a bunch of stuff on Ebay as I am trying to thin out my inventory-thought maybe I could sell them more quickly there.
But when I looked at the prices things were selling for on Ebay and the number of bids-I decided to leave them at Yahoo. They don't appear to be doing much better at Ebay, and the fees would have taken the difference!
Yahoo works for me-and it does seem to be true that the more auctions you have up, the more traffic you get! |

You are not alone Darend44 and Texas-Treasure. I closed my eBay store when they hiked their prices in August. Before the hike, I had 1200 listings in the store and was rotating 50 plus items weekly to auction. I was selling about 10% of my auction items and the store was really picking up. The fee hike drove me out. I rarely list on eBay now because the low price competition is fierce that it drives the final selling price down and the fees are so high that it in the end you break even or often loose money. I miss the regular eBay income, but I would rather sit on my inventory investment than give it away. I too am sitting on a very large inventory and basically selling little to nothing.
I have been listing on Yahoo for a couple of months, but the sales were slim and support does not exist. I have sold 4 items in four months and two of the items were pieces of antique sterling silver jewelry that I sold way below market value. It is a totally FREE venue and hopefully a few people will connect to the the online web store I am building.
I have tried a couple of other auction sites with even less success. I sent Yahoo a very lengthy feedback letter today. This site has great potential, but needs some customer service and some tech support to clear up some bugs. NEVER GIVE UP! My screensaver banner says, "There are many failures on the road to success."
I am determined to make 2007 a better year for my online sales. There are lots of great folks here on PSU and when I get a little frustrated I come here and read the boards. Sometimes I find a great selling tip, a timely news article or just other folks who are the same boat. Just hang in there!
