Make sure Google users can find your online store
Get your data from other popular services
If you have an online store with eBay, Amazon or Yahoo, why not make sure that Google users can find it, too? Google Base Store Connector is a free download that puts info about your store into our index, so that when people search Google for the products you have to sell, you'll show up in their search results, along with a link directly to your site on eBay, Amazon or Yahoo.
Effortless bulk upload of items
You'll never have to manually enter the same items on different websites; we'll automatically format your items for you in the proper Google Base format.
Synchronize multiple sites in one click
Once you tell us your account info, you can move data from multiple sites into your Google Base account in one easy step.

Wow, DTI, looks like a great way to get things moved over to Base!! Tell me, is there anything in the works to make this functionality available to non-store owners, i.e., those who sell on their website only, or who sell on non-auction style sites such as ecrater and Ioffer? |

I doubt dticorp knows the answer to that question (if dticorp DOES know the answer, then I sincerely apologize in advance) - but the information you see posted above is simply a cut and paste from the very same link provided at the top of the post.
But my GUESS is that google is NOT working on a connector for eCrater, iOffer or even BluJay. An important difference between those three marketplaces and the three that googleBase currently connect - free and paid.
I was fooled at first and jumped right in to see more about the base connector, although i do not have an eBay or Amazon store - I do list on Yahoo, but then the Homer Simpson in me smacked my forehead and said D'OH! Because the Yahoo Stores are completely different than listing on yahoo auctions (and again, the difference is free vs paid).
But - I digress, because if you ARE paying for online stores thru eBay, Amazon or Yahoo - then the amount of money you pay should finally yield a benefit like being connected to the Base.

Ah hah, Marty, very good points! I wondered about Yahoo, too, what you say makes sense, though.
Guess I'll just have to keep slogging away plugging things into the Base on my own!

................................ oh Erin (lmao) - for those who do not know our ongoing abbreviation game - that "MF" title before my name that you so kindly displayed could also be interpreted as a different monicker that my ex-wife would be fond of!

The latest version also has support for OSCommerce shops.
Has anyone managed to get this working yet? |

A big part about who is included in GB Connector has to do with size. We're most certainly too small to be considered at this point -- maybe someday! But we just programmed our own. We have a very simple process that extracts a seller's listings for upload to Google Base. At this point it requires manual upload to the seller's Google account but we're working on automating that too.
The thing is, any market site, and even website operators, including OSCommerce and similar sites, could have such a feature. I'm surprised there isn't already a module for this -- maybe there is.
Any site with their inventory in a database could pull the information in a suitable format for Google Base. |

Hopefully Virtuemart will get "connected" If oscommerce does, it may open the way for other open source carts to be able to use the connector.
MSMO is correct though in that many carts these days 'come with' an exporting feature for (froogle) googlebase/Google Products. LOL
oscommerce does have some contributions available:

Haven't tried them myself as osc tries my patience as opposed to vm.
hope the link helps,

Yes, there a several contributions available for creating a Google Base file feed with OSCommerce.
In the end I wound up changing an older version of the EdgeIO + Google Base feed contribution so that it includes the attributes I needed (and made sure I deleted the "location" attribute (if you include it your listings won't be visible in Google Product Finger)).
It's pretty sweet, the script also uploads the xml file it generates to Google's FTP server.
I set up cron-jobs through CPanel to run it twice a month so it updates my listings automatically.
Still, this is pretty techie for some store owners, which is why it's so goo that Google Base Store Connector now also supports OSCommerce. |

Does anybody know how long it will be before Google Base Connector works with Amazon Marketplace again. Google Base Connector works great with Amazon, but Amazon had a problem with Google and they said they were working on a solution.
My last upload with Google Base Connector worked great, but now they say I have to upgrade the software before my next upload, and I know the upgrade will delete Amazon as a connection.
I was hoping this would only be a two week problem, but I haven't heard anything. |
