I was thinking the same thing.. a Elmo will sell anywhere, Even on Bidville (joke of the day:).. Thats not really a good word for the site... Not here to bash though...

As for seeds before winter, its the perfect time to sell seeds.. Im no farmer, but from what little experience I have witnessed from relatives, many people begin their seeds indoors 8 weeks before Feb... And Knapps did have hits on every other site but BV... What I think Joe meant to say was that you didnt have Elmos, PS3's, or Baseball Cards and thats why you didnt get any hits... lol..

Well this IS a bit early for seed sales. My peak sales are from Jan - May. But I do get some sales as early as Nov and actually just had 4 sales off my web site a couple of weeks ago.

1 goes to Au where this is actually a bit LATE for a sale. 2 of the others went down south where many do a mid to late winter planting to beat the summer heat.

But yes the true purpose was to show that I am getting views on the other sites but no one is even looking on BV.

I wasn't able to get into Bid-alot this morning to check their numbers. When I did get in, each expired listing showed 10-30 views, so that would have made 200-300+ views in the last month vs 2 on BV.

Carol

Last week I finally got a mod for my shopping cart to work which uploads all of my inventory to Google Base automatically every week.. Sofar Im impressed with the hits, and further more its giving me valuable info about what keywords I might try out when I decide to give the ads a shot.. Definitely more hits than BV though...

Okay its been 7 days and I have received 22 emails from Bidville about updating my credit card and how my billing is due.. I got one yesterday for them trying to say that my $500 worth of enhancements are trying to renew as well, when that was a error that happened 3 months ago when I was trying to list and their bulk uploader was not working properly and put me down for 500 front page upgrades I didnt want.. I have emailed their customer service directly 7 times now and have replied back to the billing requests, but NOTHING, ZIPPO, NADA, ZILCH!!!! This is supposed to be a great site made better? Its like trying to leave the mafia!!! Really Nice Service there BIDVILLE!!!

BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY FROM BIDVILLE!!!! Its Easy to Get Started.. Leaving is a whole other matter!!!! They will answer your emails when you are asking how to get a store, or how to get something on their bulk lister to work properly and for that I commended them, but this is just sorry..

As a fairly new member of Bidville and with over 600 auctions on the site I see lots of viewers.
My sales are slow and I haven't sold much yet.
Yet, is the keyword. The site is improving and there are lots of different items over there. I don't do cards of any kind. I make handcrafted quilts. theme, traditional and original. I also collect and sell new and vintage fabrics, plus collectibles, quilt books, vhs movies, cookbooks and more.
I'm taking Honest Joes advice and beginning to advertise off site.
My new begginning.

If you do not have a site of your own then finding an auction site where you can set up a store and park all of your items is great and driving traffic to your Bidville Store makes sense and could help you with sales.. However, if you do have a website of your own, why bother? Any traffic driving should be to your own place where odds are you will make more money hand-over-fist..

I haven't set up a website. Maybe someday.
But, I still haven't figured out what you get out of downing Bidville.
However even negative comments keep us out there where people can see us. It's still a plug. So thanks.

Some folks always look a gift horse in the mouth. Eore is always losing his tail.

Got over $500 worth of front page featured listings for his shirts for nothing due to a mistake he made and complains.

BidVille is not perfect, but they are fair, honest and striving to improve wherever they can. They are by far the next best thing to that hesgay place.

I would be delighted if I accidently got that much advertising for free.
I would praise BV to the sky if they let me off the hook for that much -- but that's just me.
No, I won't make that mistake. I read instructions.
Thanks HonestJoe for the info.
BIDVILLE IS THE GREATEST!!!! Easy to load items, friendly sellers and great prices.

The "Free Front Page Advertisments" was not my fault.. It was the lack of directions for the Bulk Lister and it just so happened on the weekend when they did 3 different updates to the bulk lister.. It was funny how I did nothing to change the settings from one update to the next yet on one particular update the error happened, but did not on the next?? Yeah that was NOT my fault and they had no choice but to correct the problem and "refund" my account.. And yeah I thought it was pretty cool that my stuff got left up there even after I was credited back the fees, but what good did it do? If you cant get hits after being on the front page for over a month, then why stay? That was the prime-time spot and yet I got hardly any hits, and 2 bogus sales.. That spoke loud and clear to me and all I have done is pass on my experience here at PSU.. I havent started a slandering campaign or anything like that.. If feelings are hurt, or toes are stepped on, I'm sorry, but this place is for letting others know good and bad experienced, and for the most part BV was a HUGE disappointment as my title suggests.. It doesnt say anywhere, BV got to HELL, that place is garbage or any nonsense like that.. The problem is too many people take things the wrong way and cant take a little criticism.. Forgive me for offering my side of the story so perhaps BV could improve a a tiny bit.. Lets continue to live in la-la land where BV reigns supreme and everyone is making lawn bags of money from there.. Smile

I am sorry you are angry at BV and that you addressed me first about an issue I wasn't commenting on. Just because you made a mistake and then nothing sold to boot is not BVs fault. If at the time your items weren't right for that venue -- you move on. By addressing me on this subject it is clear you can't move on. I have been on the bay for over 7 years. The price increases ate the profit up. I left. simple, quick, no pain for either of us.
I'm guessing you started to write how angry you are in the forums. That alone could have cost you sales. Anger is a turn off.
It does appear others know what happened and the only way they would have is through the forums.
I have had a great experience on BV so far. My sales are slow for a variety of reasons none of which I could blame a site trying to compete with the giant for. They are trying. David beat the giant with a simple stone. BV will become better known and it is growing.
As for the giant -- hmmmm. They raised the prices in order to run competetions, grand prizes, little prizes for those who love games. A promise of this or a promise of that. Only a few win. The rest will get tired of the games they are paying for. I know I did.

As I've Done It Myself Here And Elsewhere I Won't Point Fingers, But Starting THreads Like This Or Responding In Negative Ways To Any Auction Site Hurts Only Ourselves As I'm Sure These Sites Did'nt Ramp Up W/The Goal To See How Fast They Could Fail-Sellers W/Them. Frustrating As It Is Sales Wise, They Need Our Enthusiasm To Help Them Grow. I'm Not Talking About A Free Pass- If CS Cant/Wont Help Take It To The Boards. OP Got That Help And Still's Bitchin'. You Say Tomato- I Say Tamato-Let's Call The Whole Thing Off!
