Posts can be easily misinterpretted as this one has.. There is no anger here.. It was a mild post and has remained that way. The only heat you might be feeling is one-sided as this isnt a BIG deal to me.. The only thing I remember commenting to you about was to say that if you do have your own website, you are wiser to promote it over any auction site. Im not promoting Ebay here by any means.. You have also guessed wrong about me complaining on the BV forums and you wont find any complaints from my name on there.. I only used the boards there a couple of times and it was strictly to ask bulk loader questions.. Even the board help there was a bit disappointing.. I do hope that BV becomes a true contender.. Im not holding my breath though and I will never promote a place over my own site.. I will sell there if there are sells to be had. I might brag about it if I do make some sales, but to spend hard-to-come-by time to bring customers there when I could benefit more by driving them to my place is absurd.. Thats my point. Thats where you and I see differently. I respect your faith in BV and hope it works out for everyone. We all know there needs to be someone to come along to bump off the Greed.. You take your road, and I will take mine.. I will probably list free auctions there after the holidays when I have more time to mess around with the bulk loader, but I wont pay store fees there again until the buyers come out of hiding.. There are alot of us here that believe when you pay for a service, you shouldnt have to rely soley on self-promotion.. I will pay FVFs all day long. Thats the cost of doing business and everyone should have to pay something.. Places like Bluejay, Ecrater, etc are great places to list for free..

So there are no attacks from this end.. No anger.. No slander.. Just honest-2-goodness shared experiences that others do have a right to hear.. Its great to hear the wonderful success stories, but its also good to hear the not-so-great stories as well..

Ihhgbh-Stop it-Just Stop. If You're In Fact Making $$$$ "Hand Over Fist", Filling "Hefty" Bags W/Cash, On And On Why Continue Posting Here? I don't think my assessment is wrong. You have 282 posts in here. That alone takes time to do.
It's a waste of my time.

I am sensing anger here and its uncalled for.. I have never said I was making money hand over fist.. I have never once said that I am NOT in the same boat as everyone else.. Whats wrong with sharing good and bad things? When I try something out, I give reports back here where others can read it.. Thats what a forum is all about.. Unfortunately I do have a little bit of spare time to come in here and keep up with some of whats going on.. I comment a few times a day, usually in the morning and at night.. Just like others here.. Sorry to say, but most of my posts have come from one thread and that was the HUGE argument about OLA which has been a dead issue and which i was not the only one to be involved in.. If my post here was so bad, then it would be pulled.. As it is, its very relevent.. So I happen to think BV was a disappointment.. So what.. For my one complaining post there are dozens more who love them and will tell about their good experiences.. Thats what boards are for and if you cant deal with the negatives as well as the positives then maybe you shouldnt post.. Its obvious this post has been taken far too seriously for you guys to be worked up over it.. Im not a liar, and im not here to constantly defend myself. I have yet to piss on you and will not do so in a post.. I will however continue to share my opinion on things as I find them..

Your right this is a waste of time.. I shouldnt have to be in here trying to explain everything I say about anything.. But as it is I hate to leave things on a bad note.. For those who have interacted with me, they know that I am all about finding alternatives.. I have said it 10x's before.. There isnt just ONE alternative.. That much everyone here can agree upon.. I havent slammed the door on BV forever.. Thats what I dont get.. I havent come in here and said that BV is garbage and that people should stay away from there.. I said that you shouldnt pay fees there for barely any traffic and that your better off driving traffic to your own site IF you have one.. So whats the problem? Why is that such a immoral thing to say in a forum? If you cant explain why your so mad or why your coming back in here and saying that I need to STOP It, at least explain why or how I offended you.. Im sure its a misunderstanding.. If not then you can stop throwing my words back in my face and move on.. Peace.

Hi , I am knew to this site, but I really couldn't help but comment on Bidville. I too have been member of bidville, when I first heard about it, I was really hoping it would grow and attempt to give ebay a little run for its money. I even went and got the bidville store, had inventory and not one sale. I post there every now and again, but still without the hits, without the watchers and without the sales. I have been on there for about 3 yrs and not once have I had a sale through them. I will keep posting things every once in a while and if I do manage to actually get a sale, that will be a bonus. I tend to do alot more activity through yahoo, stormpay and sometimes even overstock, but that place can be iffy also.

I lasted a mere year as a seller on Bidville. Couldn't handle paying for what seemed -- actually, was -- no return. It has always amazed me that this company was once a publicly-traded company like Ebay and had the money to make a go of it. By now, considering its age, Bidville should have been a household name by now and been able to build on eBay's continuing missteps and problems. And for a while I really thought it would happen, since eBay really bit the big screw-up this past year, and then, of course, the Ubid buy-out. But I guess that really was just a bit of nothing.

It was a nice-looking site with a lot of nice features that worked. I used to lump it together with Bidchaser 'cause they felt similar to me.

Both sites -- lots of promise, lots of words, no commitment from its owner. Sites like this do not deserve the loyalty and hard work of its sellers. Period.

Bidville seems to have gone downhill, rather than growing.

When it first opened and I started listing there, I did a fairly steady business. In fact, when Yahoo started charging fees, I moved several hundred auctions there. Never got rich, but it sure helped pay the college tuition for two boys!

I returned to Yahoo when they dropped their fees and up until this month have done exceptionally well there. Right now, I get the impression that sales are off everywhere! But I did relist a bunch of stuff at BV, at really low prices, when I decided to cut back on my auction selling (both boys graduated-lol!)

I have sold practically nothing at BV since my return two months ago-the worst sales I've ever had there, especially considering that I was selling quart bags of excellent jewelry for $10-less than my cost by far!

My belief is that when online shopping was the hottest new fad in town, people were actively hunting for auction sites at which to shop...Ebay jumped on this with their advertising and publicity stunts. BV did not.
Now that online shopping is a regular part of life and no longer a hot hobby...Ebay has built a regular customer base, just like any B&M store. BV did not, and there are no longer customers 'hunting' for auctions sites where they can spend their money. They simply do not have the customers in sufficient numbers to support their sellers.

I don't know that advertising can change this, anymore-witness Overstock-but NOT advertising is a death sentence for online auctions.

JMHO-which ain't worth shucks! Laughing

I have been on BIDVILLE off and on for 2-3 years. It is a great looking site, but there are hardly any BUYERS other than BV sellers buying from each other.

Lots of listings there. I wish BV would concentrate a little on advertising.

On the other hand, OVERSTOCK advertises but the site does not grow.

They do have the listings, but seldom any fresh merchandise, at least where I check. The same sellers have been listing and relisting the same items for months-sometimes years!

In some cases, their prices are just way out of line...these are not professionals and they really believe they'll get book price for things. That seldom happens since online auctions made collectibles so readily available.

BV is fine for cards, for dress patterns, but not much else.

I know it is all about getting sales on any site. Nonetheless I still am impressed by the work behind Bidville and believe it has very good potential for the future. I recently tried their Express Loader and that works very nicely for me. I like their fraud protection. I like their general look and feel. It is second on the Auction Site Count. Seems to have a lot going for it so far and I will try to keep supporting it.
