Just for your information.
Skyecrafts is a small online business selling garden gnomes. We have been experimenting with Yahoo as a way to promote/sell our products and this is the result.

While listing items (we listed 30 gnomes) we discovered a lot of little errors. Like, if you first put in the description, and then upload the pictures, your description gets "eaten" and you have to do it all over again.

In 2 months we had 4 (ahem) "sales". One was to ourselves, to see what our customer would see when they buy something from us via Yahoo. We discovered a lot of little problems and bugs this way, like, sometimes the invoice and messages are not delivered.
The second and third sale went to a buyer who proceeded not to pay and ended up with negative feedback from us.
The fourth sale went through without a glitch.

After two months and hours of work (listing & maintaining) we managed to sell ONE gnome. In the same period, we sold a bunch on Ebay and a couple on Ecrater, another experiment to try and get away from Ebay.
Our conclusion is that despite Yahoo's 2nd place in listings, it is not working for us right now. We have closed all auctions and put Yahoo in the freezer.

I am interested in other sellers on Yahoo. How are things going? Any sales? Enough to explain why you stay on Yahoo? I am looking for hints and tips; maybe we'll give it another shot.

I'm not familiar with what you are selling. Do these items
do well on eBay and/or your website?

Recently did a $65.00 sale for Jerry Rice cards. $26.00 sale
for nonsport cards on Yahoo Auctions. These items have
been listed for months.

Due to the poor sellthru rates, I lose money listing the same
type of items on eBay.

I also do sales, listing my inventory on my Yahoo Group

Campu2, thank you for your info.

Garden gnomes vary in price from roughly $10 to $45 and they do reasonably well on Ebay (we have roughly a 40% successrate, meaning 4 out of 10 listings sell). Of course, spring time is our high season.

Even though Yahoo is free, maintaining the listings just to have one sale every two months would be extremely inefficient for us. I hope more people react so that we can compare notes. Maybe someone out there has better luck with Yahoo and I would certainly like to know how that success was achieved Smile.
