Maybe I just joined the wrong ones! I joined one that was suggested, but they have so many requirements you have to meet in order to belong, that I have just let it drop. I don't have time to do all the banners, etc, and my listings both.
The other one has a lot of good information in it, but if they don't think your question is 'relevant', they don't post it. I can understand that to some extent but if a seller asks a question it's usually because they need it answered and I'm not sure it's the moderator's place to decide who deserves an answer and who does not! So, as far as seller's groups, I haven't found any that I really like.
I have pretty much given up on seller's groups and stick with interest groups. This is where you are more likely to meet folks interested in buying your items, if that is what you are looking for. |

There are many types of user groups on Yahoo, MSN and Google. They have different purposes and you should be careful about which groups you join as some do not want to be spammed.
Some of the ones I joined are shopper groups, created specifically by folks who want to receive notices of eBay sellers, web sellers, other auction site sellers and even folks who sell directly on the emails with links to photobucket pics.
Do searches from the main group page. Search for online selling, garage sales, shopping, small business....anywhere you think your type of group may show up.
BE PREPARED! When you join one of these groups with the intent of sending notices about your sales, guess what you will receive back? That's right...other seller's notices about their sales!! So, if you don't like spam, don't join. Or, use another email address specifically for these groups. I use a Yahoo address very similar to my main address. I also have the group mails set to daily digest so I receive only 1-2 mails from each group with all the messages for the day.
Are they successful? As with anything else....ONLY as much as you are willing to work at it. Just like myspace, just like auctions, just like anything else. You get what you put into it. I tracked my stats, and I know it worked for me.

I would recommend that you do searches for what you sell.
(Books, DVDs, Postcards, Crafts, Dolls, or whatever you sell.)
This is what buyers/collectors will be searching for and the
groups you would most likely benefit from joining.
Buyers do not search for "Yauctionsellers", "online marketing",
"business opportunities", "BidvilleSellerGroup, etc.

Hello, I recently started a yahoo doll group, I was told it is a good thing to do for promoting your items. I posted some pictures of my Christmas dolls and animal dolls. If anyone is interested in a handmade doll group, please let me know. Thank you.
