Please advise me what to do.
Yahoo is stating that I am Registered. But every time I click the Selling Manager Link it gives me the This ERROR Message. I took a ScreenShot and you can see the Picture here:
As a result I cannot List my Items for Auctions.
Note, If I use the the Desktop Yahoo! Selling Manage tool, it first ask me to login, I type in the correct UserID and Password, then it states that I need to Register. When I Click OK to Register it gives me a weird page stating the I registered? BUT it will not let me List the items.
It Give me This Weird Message. I took a ScreenShot and you can see the Picture here:
Now I did change my primary email address prior to registering and updated my address. When I went to Log in, it hiccupped on the 2nd step of the Registration process. It said something like Click OK to continue and when I did gave a page not found error message. But when I went back, it stated that it did accept and it allowed me continue to step 3 and finish and it said I was Registered. |

I had the same thing, you are registered to buy but not to sell, you have to go back to the main page and get vertified by entering your SSN or DL#, Yahoo will let you know after pressing enter if you can sell or not.
My problem kept coming up with 'can not complete' after I had entered all my information. I contacted Yahoo help and within five hours I was all set up to sell on Yahoo Auctions. |

FYI: This is the Canned Response I got from Yahoo Auction Customer Support on 19 OCT 2006. Seems they know about these problems... Frustrating, been a several days...
===================================
Hello XXXXXXXXX,
Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Auctions.
We're happy you've taken the time to participate in Yahoo! Auctions.
Unfortunately, as you've noticed, we're experiencing some technical
difficulties with the Seller's Manager Tool. We apologize for any
inconvenience this may have caused you.
Please be assured that we are aware of this problem and working to fix
it as quickly as possible.
Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.
Regards,
Ben

This has been an ongoing off and on problem over there.
About 10 days ago I re-listed a bunch of auctions there. About every 3-5 listings I would either have to sign-in AGAIN or get that same "you have to be registered" page. If I got the "register" page, I could just hit back on my browser and then "submit" again and usually it would take.
But if I got the "log-in" page, I would have to lot-in and then it would start me over on my list. That was a total PITA and the whole re-list process for about 120 listings took about 2 hours. On most other sites, I can do it in about 5 minutes or less.
It's the old "you get what you pay for" thing over at Yahoo. As we aren't paying anything, we also aren't getting much if ANY service over there either.

I have no clue kiki. It just sort of didn't sit right with me. I've signed up at many different sites and NEVER have been asked for my SS# or my Drivers License#. They can check you out like every other site does, thru a credit card or bank account # it would seem to me?? I know a lot of folks apparently have no problem giving that info out (SS# & DL#) but for now I'm waiting to see if someone can give me some reasonable explanation of why they would need either. Maybe it's just me! |

I have been selling on Yahoo for 2 years. This is just nuts. Its been going on for weeks. I have been complaining constantly. You can't list, you can't load pictures. Its constant asking of logging in and registering. The pay pal is not being activated. I got them to fix some.
One thing to do is go in your control panel and erase your temporary files and see if that resets for you when logging in . It seemed to work.
Now the weird thing I put in pictures and I saw someone elses. Nothing I ever loaded in. CRAZY. But when I listed they were my pictures. They said they are aware of the problem. I read this constantly from them.
I am very upset because the moderator on Yahoo in a club made a comment in our Yahoo group that we shouldn't upset these people that work for Yahoo and we should not complain.
Well I said number 1 why not. The squeaky wheel gets heard. Number 2: its their job if they can't deal with it and get their feelings hurt. They shouldn't be fixing Yahoo problems. They are getting paid to hear complaints and problems. Isn't that their job? She made a reference that we could offend them and they wouldn't help us. LOL. Come on.
Ok, I've said too much. Sorry. I hope I've helped some people here. Try the cookies. Oh, I couldn't close an auction that I sold on another site. Thats not working now. Complain to them, thats all I can say. Im so tired of people being afraid to complain to them. Tell them, you don't have to be mean. But let them know, this has been going on for weeks. You don't see this on other sites. |

LadyJ, as a FORMER moderator of this group, hopefully I can explain what is going on.
There are(were?) members of the Yahoo! Auctions Development/Tech Team that actively monitor this group's posts to keep informed of what problems sellers (users) are having at Yahoo! Auctions. Because these people are members of the tech team and NOT members of Yahoo! customer service, they are prohibited from actively posting in the group according to Yahoo! policy.
When you make a complaint to Yahoo! Customer Care(through the feedback box), members of the CS get the message and choose what to do with it, what kind of reply you'll receive, and whether or not they need to pass it along to the development/tech team for their handling.
When you post a complaint in the ysellersauction group, it shortcuts this procedure as those messages are sent directly to members of the tech team via e-mail, the same as all group members who choose to get the group's messages individually.
This USED to be a very effective method of getting problems addressed sooner and also occasionally provided a seller with individual help from a tech team member. However, since the tech team has been diverted to work on other Yahoo! projects, they are having to be pulled from these other projects to fix anything that is wrong with Y! Auctions now. The manager of Yahoo! Auctions has also recently left his position and I believe that the auction site is basically back on autopilot with no one actively monitoring anything again, much like periods in the past with Y! Auctions.
So, what is presently going on, I have no idea - I can only guess based on what little information that I've learned and looking at past history. I'm not sure any of the present moderators know exactly what is going on with Yahoo! either. But no doubt they are aware of how "stretched" the tech team is, in trying to work on other projects as well as keep the auction site up and running. Perhaps the moderators are trying to keep the volume of duplicate posts down in the group, as well as tone down the frustration that everyone must be feeling in trying to work around all the problems at present.
After all, the tech team members were monitoring the group posts at the request of the Y! Auctions manager(whom, as I said, has recently departed)strictly as a service to those sellers who are members of the group. Right now, I'm sure the tech team members are frustrated as well, because they are being asked to do multiple tasks that's keeping their time resources stretched beyond reasonable limits - and that's not THEIR fault, it's the fault of Yahoo! upper level management and their decision to not provide the auction site with the resources needed.
Repeating the recommendation of one of the members of the tech team, I suggest posting any technical problems to the group AND ALSO submitting it to Yahoo! via their feedback box. In the past that worked well most of the time.

Exactly what I do. I go to the feedback box and ask for help and tell them what is happening in a kind, dignified way. I don't believe in bashing anyone; thats not my manner. I respect everyone.
But in respect to the yahoo group over at yahoo. I don't see a problem with people complaining. One man even said are we running on auto pilot again? You just made that comment. Why not let people know? What is everyone afraid of over there? I don't think that is bashing anyone and why not let upper management see customers upset? I don't see the need for a club where you can't discuss your feelings and your opinions. Why have one? Here we can voice all kinds of frustrations. I shouldn't be afraid to say something because a moderator is afraid someone will get their feelings hurt at Yahoo. LOL
In respect to people overworked at Y. Explain to me how a company runs without enough employees?
Your not going to get business, your going to get upset customers who leave. Like me at Epier. The man said you want customer service, pay. LOL. I closed so fast I saw stars. I got to tell you, I would be afraid to open a store through Y right now. I am not paying to run on auto pilot with no customer service.
Thanks for listening again. |

Since I'm no longer a moderator, I'm not involved in moderation decisions there, BUT when I was, our concern was always that the volume of posts or the level of complaints(both in volume and voracity) in the group would escalate to where the Yahoo! techs would just cease to monitor the posts and then member seller's problems would go unaddressed and/or be delayed in being fixed. Basically, that is what happened to the Yahoo!(Auction) Message Boards when the volume of posts there became either irrelevant or so belittling that the Yahoo! Auction techs just decided to quit monitoring them.
So I think that is a valid concern.
The purpose of my post was to just clarify that when you complain to Yahoo! through the feedback box, you DO reach a person that is paid to hear your complaints, but when you post to the yauctionsellers group, the Yahoo! techs who are members are NOT paid to hear your complaints(as you stated). They only do it as a service. Their job is to address the technical issues, not to actually field customers' complaints. And the moderators in the group volunteer their time as a service to help other sellers as well.
I know Angelo ( the present group owner) had been weighing starting another group where sellers could voice a variety of issues, so they could keep the yauctionsellers group narrowly focused on just the technical issues that the Yahoo! techs needed to deal with. I don't know what final decision has been made on that. I do know that the group has been formed and it is listed, but it still appears to be inactive and unpromoted.
I've been involved with Yahoo! Auctions since before they were Yahoo!'s. They were originally OnSale Auctions. As far as justifying decisions that upper level management at Yahoo! have made regarding their auction site, I can't. Most times they have made absolutely no sense! The pattern has always been that Yahoo! has repeatedly thrown resources at the auction site (and made wholesale changes) for a 6 month to 1 year period, then when they don't see the results that they were expecting(or a NEW advertising deal with eBay is made) they divert those resources to other areas and let the auction site languish from inattention. Then a couple of years down the line, they repeat the process.
The bottom line is that upper level management at Yahoo! has never had the patience or commitment to build their auctions to be a true competitor and most longtime online sellers are reluctant to put effort and faith into something that they figure is just going to change in 6 months to a year.
In spite of inattention from Yahoo!, the auction site continues to grow in listings - and apparently in seller success. - thanks mainly to eBay's recent decisions. No doubt this growth is what is causing a lot of the problems at Y! Auctions of late. With all the recent changes in personnel(basically a 100% turnover of everyone in Y! Auctions all the way up to the VP level that oversees it), I'm looking to Yahoo! to eventually declare what their intentions regarding auction site is. But that decision could be anything from just shutting the site down to aggressively taking on eBay and all competition. Until they decide and then decide to tell us, who knows? And even then, you can look for that decision to possibly change again in 6 months to a year!

George just to let you know Im not all talk. LOL. I did start a group about a month or so ago. I emailed all big sellers in Yahoo auctions that I knew who were getting shafted by non paying repeat bidders. None replyed, one told me they were too busy to bother, and no one wanted to participate. That being said I shut it down. I had not one person join. They complain but thats where it ended. I was very open and said this is a group to talk and get help and list repeat non paying bidders names. I was tired of wasting my time and wanted to help others too.
On what you said, most of my sales are Yahoo but Ecrater is picking up for me. I would love to see Y take on Ebay. I think they would do great. But its very hard to sell when basic things are not working like pictures. LOL.
I understand what you mean now, that this group Im in is just for Tech help basically on Y. I would love to join a group where you could talk, and open up to speak your mind and such. Let me know if you know a good one. I do talk to Bill, aka the old guy once in a while and we hash on problems. But I usually just talk to support and I am to the point and not rude. I did tell one guy when he said I should register. LOL, I have been on 2 years. Im not going to register. LOL
Thanks for all your insight George. Im listening.
Blessings, LadyJ |
