Ain't that nice......even got negged my some jerk......most customers get bummed, but understand it's not my fault.....'course i email them the shipping info.....this guy thought it was a scam and wouldn't even renig the neg......felt good to blast him back, it's been awhile.....lol
God bless 'em
Personally i think the P.O. is shelving the media-mail until it's convienant for them to ship.....hoping we will say screw it and only use priority from now on.
Now when i get a book order i let the buyer know that media-mail may take up to 1 MONTH......I've had it happen about 10 times in 2 months.
Great for business......Thanks Unca Sammy
ps.......in 7+ years, with over 30k items shipped on ebay i've never, ever shipped anything but what is allowed in media-mail or bound matter.
Regardless of what the buyer wants and begging won't help.....same thing for customs declaration amounts......nope it's not a gift, don't have any relatives in Swasiland.....lol
How 'bout this...... free item, free shipping, delivered yesterday.
Sorry still not happy, the color is just a shade too dark........bite me |

Until recently, I'd not had any issues with the USPS. I had one package in 5 years that went first class, and was 'mia' for 3 weeks. Then, outa the clear blue sky - it got delivered - 3 weeks to the day after I dropped it off...all in the US.
However, I sent a package PP the end of September, and it's MIA - 100% 'poof'. This is another organization that has increased costs but the customer service or return on my money isn't 'working well'.... |
The US Postal Service needs to realize that they need to just stick to what they do best (most of the time). deliver a letter or parcel from point A to point B. They should not even try to compete with UPS and Fedex. I've seen deliv. confirmation go from 30 cents just a few years back to 60 cents and look at the increases of Priority mail. Last week it took them 5 full days to deliver a small first class parcel to me that was mailed from only 50 miles away. At least it didn't disappear. |

Sorry to her about your troubles with the USPS and BTW? Welcome to the PSU forums!
We appreicate you bringing this to our attention!
As for shipping stuff? 90% of my items are shipped priority mail. Yea I know it cost more, but the P.O. is responsible for the box, packing material and I've never had a problem in over 2 1/2 years. Of course this depends on what you sell. With CD's and VHS I use the ole media mail but thank Heavens I've had no problems.
I live in a very rual area to where you get to know the local postamaster and by doing that they tend to take the extra care in delivering my packages in a timely fashion--Or so it seems to most of us locals.
Now I've personally witnessed the wrestlers who handle packages and it's not a pretty sight but I pack every item as if it were going to be tossed across a roadway far, only one item has arrived to a buyer of mine broken.
Once again, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Perhaps you should contact your local postmaster and let them know what is happening. It never hurts to talk to the boss when issues arise. |

On one delivery that took a bit long, there's not enough of an issue to talk to the postmaster. I think the issues discussed here are the postal service in general. The local post office in a small town wouldn't have anything to do with a package that's going across the country. There's just too many hands handling a package along the way to pinpoint a problem. But I must admit, the post office generally does a great job and lost packages isn't much of a problem for a small seller. I guess the problem is magnified with a large seller. And regarding how roughly the mail sorters handle mail, a post office I used to use in a fairly small town of 20,000 would toss your package about 8 feet into a bin after you paid the postage at the counter. I always thought that was really bad judgment to toss the customers package right in front of them. When a postal employee has worked for the PO for many years, they lose touch and don't think about it. |

...and I'll add my two cents.
Had an interesting conversation with my local postmaster - like Gato, I am in a rural area, and one of the benefits is open lines of communication with USPS employees.
Anyway, the conversation took a twist when I said in semi-frustration "You'd think that after the millions of dollars eBay sellers ALONE bring in for the Postal Service that they'd AT LEAST designate a PaYPal Shipping and Online Services expert at a higher level within the United States Postal Service" - you know, someone aware of the details and ins and outs of the whole system to school the various postmasters in the online gig (for exapmple, I know that it was ME that taught the local post office workers what a internet generated label looked like)
The postmaster told me that if such a person exists, they have never heard of him/her/it...
isnt that a shame!?

We used to live in Florida with a large post office. We're really rural now and we luv our postmistress, she's really cool.....knows little about the policies and stuff though, seems kept in the dark.
Heck she is on U.S. Rt. 1 and still on dial-up. That town has 2500 people......our township has 12 souls, only one child.....ours.....lol
Saw a huge bull moose today out hunting, he was over 7ft high.....missed the only bird i saw though |

We don't have any moose where I live but have the largest population of white tail in the country, have a lot of wild pigs, coyotes and just about everything else. I'd really hate to run into a moose. |

Whenever I hear the rumors that pop up from time to time about how the post office wants to start charging for emails. I instantly think of just how much revenue ebay sellers generate for the postal service and just how sorry that would be if they were allowed to do that. |

LOL - since we're exchanging rural stories and statistics...
I moved from a large city in Southern California to Small Town Illinois a couple years ago. Had a very difficult time finding this place on the map! Population was 996 until we moved in, changing it to 1,000... and that was a population boom!
Gotta say, I love the small-town life.
Of course not having shopping conveniently close-by is a bit of a drag sometimes - and it's unfortunately true that folks still have some hang-ups, like with my long hair (I get called hippie sometimes lmao).
But I'm here to stay. Everyone knowin' ya, community picnics, local auctions bringing everyone together, close-knit relationships, "Palmers auto shop", and just plain being able to take the dog for a walk and not worry about being robbed... this is the good life!
But to bring this back to topic lol - I recently had a first class package ALSO take 3 weeks to get to me. It had delivery confirmation attached, and me and the postmaster watched it stay un-moved in a post office 20 miles away for 4 days! After the postmaster called that office, the package suddenly gets delivered to me the next day! You can't help but assume the package fell out of a bag and on to the floor and maybe kicked under a table or something... never to be found until someone calls that office and tells you to look for it! Alas, the postal service suffers from human error too.

Hey Marty!! I moved from Big City Texas to (back to) SMALL Town California.
You traded Shake'em Up State for Tornado Alley???
I've even had priority take a week. If you think about how much mail is processed, and they have about a high 90s% delivery rate... We won't even go into misdelivery because they can't read...
And ... lets look at people's handwritting, typing skills, damaged labels and other human error.
Alot of people handle that mail, and the more that do, the more errors can be made. |

I do see a need for some items to be shipped really cheap but from what I have seen and heard I will never use Media Mail. Never have Never will. My opinion is if it is not worth spending money on shipping it is not worth selling online. But then again that is just my opinion & some others do seem to be making money at selling those types of items online (or are they just covering all related fee's).
BTW. I have actually heard of up to 10weeks for Media Mail to arrive. Media Mail is in reality what is referred to as "space & time available" that basically means that once all the other types of shipping service items are handled if there is "space & time available" then and only then will those Media Mails items be handled. |
