Well since Ebay raised their store fees I found this wonderful site. I have been posting on here ever since and taking advice and using tips I picked up. I am very greatfull for that. I don't know about anyone else but I still haven't found my nitch. I tried bidville, yahoo, ecrater, hibidder. In the mean time I still list on ebay until I found a better alternative. I love ecrater, the set up is easy and its free!!! However I still haven't sold anything yet. I am begining to wonder If I am asking too much for my items or what I am doing wrong. Ebay sales are way down also at least for me. Is anyone else finding ebay sales to be way down? Has anyone found an other auction site that they get sales at? |

Sales have picked up in the last two wks or so - people gearing up for the season. Sales aren't what they used to be. I doubt if they ever will go back to what they had been. It was new fresh, everybody wanted a piece of the action, now that they have a piece of the action, it overdone! THE BIG DOGS! Major store chains even compete w/ebay..I read that in a paper someplace, that is why they offer less ship/free ship/discount ship and yadda yadda. I try to stick w/unique items/vintage/unusual items. I even sell items that are very weird or interesting or somethings I wouldn't buy, but others don't see what you do. I stay away from the popular items at ebay cause, its way too much competition *sounds weird right* If there are 3,000 pair of 7 jeans up for auction fake or authentic, my stuff will get lost in the shuffle and sell for way low, but if I've got one thing, with only say about 12 of the same item on ebay, I've got a better chance of making money. How do I know or find these items, I'm not sure how I do it, I have some sort of method but haven't figured it out yet if that makes any sense, but it works. My Mum calls it a good eye. I'm like "OK" A few time, I've only had 1 of the product and sold well! Items that are a lot of, I sell on free sites and cross my fingers |

I have been mostly off eBay for nearly 2 years now. I did re-open my store when stores were in search and did well for March. But by May my sales didn't even cover my expenses so I closed again.
Since I left E, I'm listing on about a dozen sites + I have my own web site. Last Jan and Feb the combo of the other sites beat my historic E sales and in Jan even beat my web site sales. My stuff is seasonal and does best from Jan til May/June.
No 1 site will be THE E alt, but using several sites can do it. It seems that one week one site is hot and another week it's some other site. By being on several sites, you are covering all the bases.
It's easy for me as I list about 120 items on all the sites I'm on. I have a mostly unlimited supply of those items.
For people that do 1 of a kind items, it would be a little harder but is doable. Sales nowhere are so good that you have to worry too much about double selling an item unless it's really rare and hot.
Use a simple spreadsheet to list the item and check off where it's listed. That way when it sells you look to see where else you have it listed and close the listing. Be sure to put in the listing that it's listed on more than 1 site and subject to prior sale. That may actually get people to buy rather than just watch as they will know they may lose it if they don't act.
Good luck in your journey off eBay.

Hi Erin et al.,
This web site has the biggest database of ACRONYMS.
http://www.acronymfinder.com/
In the future, just do a web search on ACRONYM and it is almost always the first website returned.
Cheers,

Erin,
Exactly what I meant.
No 1 site will be THE eBay alternative. It will be different for each of us too. The site that works for me may not get you any sales at all.
What works for me and a lot of sellers is a mix of sites. Altogether, using several sites, I have had better than eBay sales this last year. But using only 1 site would have never been good at all.
