You act like this is something new. I've gotten these type phishing schemes forever. It all boils down to not clicking on the links in the fake emails. As paypal has said a million times, they will never ask for acct information in an email, so the fake ones are immediately suspicious. The scammers are sending these out to random email addresses. They don't have your paypal username and password unless you fell for it and clicked on the email and entered your info. I often click on the links and go ahead and fill out the information, but I always enter words I can't mention here.

This is not the ordinary phish site..

Are you not concerned that scammers are using a back door to authenticate the info they steal!

Remember while WE Know Better than answer a spoof email many newbys do not! And with PayPal populating the page with a persons contact info makes it look legitimate!

eBay needs to block whatever method the scammers are using to access this info!

If you got this in an email, and you clicked the link, then potentially, you are the method.

There are HUNDREDS if not thousands of these idiots sending these emails out. I get 4-5 a week. Was getting more when I was listing at ebay.

Both eBay and Paypal have spoof email addresses where you can report them. I do send every one of them, in the hopes that at least they have the header information, isp, blah, blah, blah.

The addresses are spoof@ebay.com and spoof@paypal.com

You are missing the point..

PayPal should be secure with your information trusted to them for safe keeping. They have a data leak as wide as niagara falls!

When a scammer can set up a phish site and query paypal's servers for your information while logging into the fake site is a security breach of paypal's servers.

But i guess some have no problem with this.. Laughing

FYI Posting a link to it here just increases its search engine rank.

Without being specific, what information did they have of yours that alarms you? If it was just your email addy, I get these emails to addys that I've never registered with paypal, they are, in fact, just phishing.

I guess if y'all are not concerned then it must not be a big deal.

I am just trying to figure out how a non PayPal websites form can be populated with my contact and other info just by using my PayPal login id on the scam site.

In other words how is this website connecting to PayPal and retrieving that data? It is not your typical phish site.

You sure its not info they can get off of Ebay like your business address, email, name, etc.. Anyone can get that stuff.. I think you might be giving them more credit than they deserve.. They cant tap into Paypals servers through that kind of scheme.. Even if they could, it would be shut down before it caused too much damage...

I do know the credit card on file shown on the scam site is not on eBay, so they must have gotten it from PayPal.

What i have found out is, 3rd party sites like Andale etc can connect to eBay/PayPal with the login info you provide them and retreive your user info. And this is how the scammers are doing it. What shocked me was there is no security in place regarding 3rd party access. I would think there should be an application for third party access and once granted it would be encrypted/password protected.

I also found out the scammers are selling these on the underground as Rock Phish Kit's google it up when you have time.

It's getting really scary the stuff these scammers can do!
