Hello, I am in the process of setting up a store on ecrater.
I looked thru the different shipping options, tho I am not
sure how to set up one flat shipping rate for all my items.
I don't have a different rate for each item; just one flat
rate for any size order shipped anywhere in the U.S.

Any ideas for how to set this up?

Thank you.
Ann.

Simple...
Offer free ship and raise your prices to cover it.

Works GREAT on my website.

No hidden charges at check out.
People seem to love this.

I hope this helps. Smile

That's a great idea (FS) - considered it but haven't yet gone 'there'.

On eCrater, what I do is put in 0 as the weight, and put in the amount for Flat Rate in the US. I do ask others to request a quote prior to purchase, but nobody does - they just buy....

Hope this helps!! Laughing Laughing

Hello xpp and erin, thank you both for your help.
I went back to ecrater and finally figured out the
flat rate shipping, got it so it works now.

I also was thinking about doing free shipping;
and just add on extra $ to all my products to
cover the shipping costs. It does seem like it
would make it easier for customers.
When I shop on the web, I always appreciate
the stores that offer free shipping.

Tho, on the other hand, I always figure they add
$$ to the products to cover shipping, so I wonder
is it really free shipping after all, if the customer
is paying more for the product?
However, I guess the customer would be paying more
all together if they paid a shipping charge, so maybe
it works out the same either way.

I would be interested to hear what you guys think
re. all this.

Do you think customers, when they see FREE shipping
listed, then they think, "well, the store probably added $
on to cover the shipping......" or maybe people don't
think that.....I dunno.

Sorry if this sounds rambling, I am really stressed out
right now, and overtired, and it is hard to put all this
out more compactly.

Thank you both again, I am glad to be back on PSU boards!

Ann.

My store is doing pretty well on eCrater. I sell designer bedding customer returns, closeouts, and displays at great prices. I can charge less since I don't have to give an arm and a leg to eBay!

Of course there is no such thing as "free shipping", you just add it to the price of the item. If you prefer, you can say "Shipping is included" in the purchase price, but I really think everybody understands that saying "free shipping" is just "puffing" to sell your items and it is OK.

Since we don't have to pay ANY FEES TO ANYBODY (!) for selling on eCrater, you can do this. If we provided free shipping on eBay, you had to pay eBay a percentage of your shipping cost up to three times: On the listing fee, the final value fee, and then the PayPal fee.

Of course, the shipping cost varies according to the destination unless you use Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes. I pick out a destination that is pretty far from me and calculate how much the shipping would be. I lose a little money if it is farther but gain a little if it is closer. I think it evens out.
