Uh huh - So?
Just proves that another possibly otherwise
intelligent person was taken in by the OLA
smoke and mirrors, inflated numbers, and
hype. |

I laughed so hard I cried when I read this disclaimer at the bottom of that page touting Fain's internet business sense and OLA's success:
Forward-looking statements are inherently subject to risks and uncertainties, some of which cannot be predicted or quantified. Future events and actual results could differ materially from those set forth in, contemplated by, or underlying the forward-looking information. |

Madam,
The disclaimer you mention was used it is entirely concerning any solicitation to buy or sell. Please read the disclaimer in its entirely before making any assumptions. Must not sound like a bounder now. |

The disclaimer is required by law to avoid financial liability IF anyone is prompted to invest in the company discussed based on the contents of the article. Standard boilerplate legalese. |

You make no sense at all. Read what you wrote.
goose, I understand what you are saying. What I was hoping to clarify is that the cheerleaders are treating this as some big deal and it's not. It's information about OLA coupling with another entity to provide a venue for live auctions. I don't think that will help Metzy sell more soap but I may be wrong. If I am, I will be the first to admit that fact. As for a google feed of auctions, I've been doing some searching and can't find any enhanced evidence of change concerning individual auctions.
And now for the BIG LAUGH, and I quote:
"The opportunity for Auction Floor to integrate its trading platform with OnlineAuction.com will enable our network of sellers to reach an active and growing audience of buyers. OnlineAuction.com has a highly experienced team in auction e-commerce, web marketing and a well timed value proposition for buyers and sellers," noted Lou Sagar, CEO of Auction Floor. |

Skepticism is healthy and expected. Pounding on a dead horse regardless of potential benefit isn't.
I agree with LukeyLou; it will take time to see if this benefits the sellers on OLA. In the meantime it is valid good news and not just the typical cheerleading. To attack good news in a totally derogatory manner defeats any valid arguments against OLA.
And don't worry, I'll become scarce again on this forum. I made my oral presentation on one case Wednesday and start in anew on preparation for the next one Monday.

That's too bad because your postings help immensely in offsetting the continual beatings of all the dead horses.
Some get it, and some don't. |

Please don't. I enjoy your posts far more than the 'this or that site sucks/no it doesn't you do' sophomoric stuff. |

I'll be around once or twice a week, especially if I see a news item or new article I think the forum might be interested in reviewing. When I delve into to learning a case, especially when I didn't help develop the brief before presentation, I typically spent sixteen hours a day researching and studying its framework. I take breaks periodically by reviewing news and financial sites.
While my wife and I have totally pulled out of eCommerce I still enjoy many of the personalities I met at PSU. So I find myself checking in as time allows. I'm not planning on totally leaving at this time. |

Does anyone know why the auction count for OLA reads over 600,000? Does it count auction items and store items? I know the auctions listed in the site are just over 304k... |

Their numbers appear to be all over the place. The scroll on the site says 11+ million items. I'm assuming they're counting auctions with multiple quantities of the same item here.
That is a much more flattering way of defining a listing count than the correct (read: honest) way. If we did that, Atomic Mall could claim 131,000+ items listed, but I don't think that's quite kosher. Apparently iOffer does it too. |
