Alright, I'm finally listing my junk on yahoo. But how on earth do you all calculate shipping? So far, I'm just choosing a zip code far away, and using the USPS website to calculate. But I'm sure to get burned that way if someone from HI or Alaska bids. Not to mention international!

How do you do it on yahoo?

I personally don't use yahoo auctions but have seen sellers advising buyers about their payment & shipping policies in the item description. As for shipping calculators, sounds as if your doing the same thing I do at times reference the zip codes.
I also use priority mail flat rate. As for international sellers, you can either ship to them or not, but I'd advise on searching for some destination to each country your offering services to and figure out the shipping cost before listing products and offering them to some other country besides the U.S.

Good luck over there

I do use Yahoo and do as you describe. I'm in KS, so I usually pick a destination in CA and one in NY and 'ballpark' it! Seems to work ok for me - and...I've shipped to Hawaii and Alaska, and not had any issues.

If my item is below 13 OZ with the packaging, I assume 1st class. If it's above that, I assume priority mail. I use shipping confirmation for everything - including media mail.

Once in a while, I'm a tad bit short - but I'm good with that - better than having to learn a shipping calculator and/or another process.

I put my shipping into my description - no matter which site - and it works. For international folks, I require them to get a shipping quote prior to bidding. I've had 2 recent sales on Yahoo where they've not done 'this', and I've just cancelled the sale vs. trying to chase it down. International is the one that baffles me - I'm willing to ship internationally, but I do want them to 'know' that cost prior to bidding/buying.

I hope this helps!! Very Happy

I use the same method to figure postage in the continental US-guesstimate! But when I send the EOA, next to 'postage'-it says in parenthesis, 'for continental US only, all others write for adjusted total' Most people understand that, but once in a while you'll get someone that claims the price quoted on the yahoo form is all you CAN charge them. So to cover yourself, state in the auction description that postage quoted is for continental US only, all others write....etc.
You can't outguess the con artists every time, or your auction terms will be a page long, but this is a good idea to save you headaches from pushy buyers.
