I recently reviewed the last 10 non-paying bidders I’ve had, and found that 9 of 10 were unrated. This surprised me, as I have had several good customers coming from Ebay without any rating on Yahoo.
The numbers don’t lie though, and last week I decided to start my new listings with a minimum buyer rating of 1. I figure that experienced buyers from Ebay can always email me about an auction. I am hoping this will put a dent in the number of NPBs.
On a side note, the day after I started this (last Tuesday), a customer bought 11 items but was unable to purchase two others he wanted because he was unrated. But he said he would pay through Paypal, so I invoiced him for all 13. The next morning he paid.
But I am going to stick to my guns for the most part and go with a minimum buyer rating of 1. I will make exceptions on a case by case basis.

I too have 'considered' doing this - changing the rating required. I went back thru my Yahoo sales, and for more than 50% of the successful ones, I was the 'first' feedback provider - !!

So - I'm still thinking about how best to handle this. I am very glad that there are no fees to chase when there's a NPB. That definitely makes it easier to manage, even tho they are a PITB.

It really is a shame that some folks have nothing better to do!!

I only just noticed that Yahoo removed the 'report NPB' link from closed auctions...guess they don't want to be bothered?

I still have the "File Complaint for Non-payment" link on two of my closed auctions, but only for closed auctions in which I have not left feedback.

All of mine that closed prior to 3/09 have 'it', those that have closed since then - do not!!

How strange is that?
