I'm just curious here. This is not someone I'm reporting...in fact it's something I'm wondering about doing!

If say, you list antique picture frames at yahoo, can you say within that auction, that you know a great site to restore their antique photos and have the new prints sized to fit the frame of their choice? can you give a link, or at least say 'contact me for a reference to a restoration service'? I don't want to get in trouble, but I do have a great group that is restoring photos for me and would like to help them get their business rolling, on line. Thanks for any advice!

At Half Moon Auctions you may use links as long as they DO NOT link back to another auction site.

I appreciate your input. But I really need to find out about yahoo, since that is where i have these listed. Thanks, though!

Texas-Treasure,

As a past heavy lister on Yahoo, I have placed text and banner links directly to my web store and web site in the listings and never heard as much as a peep. Shocked

I don't think there's much policing going on over there. What you are offering is a helpful resource to your potential customers. I would say go with it.

Very Happy

sylvia

PS....Careful Tazi....

Texas-treasure,
I put links in all of my auctions. One of the best things about Yahoo Auctions is the free advertising benefit from listing there. The traffic is good and the listing is free. I don’t believe it is against the rules, but I am not sure what the rules are and if any are actually enforced. To me Yahoo Auctions is like the Wild West, there may be a Marshal in the territory, but I’ve never seen him.

LOL! You're probably right about that. I just know that these ladies do a great job of restoring photos at a more than reasonable price and I like to help folks like that!

This is from Yahoo Auctions Guidelines. Any links included in
your auction descriptions to non Yahoo sites, might put you at
some risk of having your account "terminated".

Similar to most large sites, this rarely happens unless someone
reports you to customer service or neighborhood watch.

---------------
Yahoo Auctions Guidelines
Spam. You may not spam Yahoo! Auctions, including:
(a) posting any listings that invite users to contact
the seller to conduct sales transactions outside Yahoo!
Auctions or otherwise advertise within a listing; or
(b) sending unsolicited commercial mailings to users of
Yahoo! Auctions.

Signposts. You may not use this service as a signpost
that redirects to other sites for the purpose of purchasing
the item or like items

Yahoo!, in its sole discretion, may terminate any auction
or your Yahoo! ID immediately and without notice if
(a) Yahoo! believes that you have acted inconsistently with
the spirit or the letter of the Yahoo! Terms of Service,
Yahoo! Auctions Additional Terms or the Yahoo! Auctions Guidelines,

I also have links in all of mine. I've seen the 'above' guidelines, and while my links direct to my site, it links back to Yahoo (and a few other sites). However, Y has the majority of my listings, so....who would have a valid argument? Not them!!! IMO - Wink

TT - it says (above) like products, you're referring for complimentary service(s) --- I'd say go for it, you're within the guidelines from my interpretation! Very Happy

I posted an email address and a link to feedbacksite.com on
Yahoo Geocities. I wasn't selling any items on Geocities.
My Geocities account was closed down "terminated".

The only problem I've had on Yahoo Auctions was having some
DVD listings yanked. These were U.S. Region 1 Factory Originals
and description specifically states that I don't sell copies, bootlegs,
or asian imports. Most likely, my prices were cheaper than one
of my competitors.

I've had a domain name suspended and held hostage by godaddy.
I was posting links to a directory (all on topic) to usenet groups.
No more than 1 or 2 posts per week to each group. I wasn't selling
anything. Someone reported me for "spamming".
Godaddy said they would "consider the matter closed" for $200.00

Any service you use on the iternet is subject to T.O.S. that are
usually vague and state that they close your account whenever
they feel like it.
