The reason competing auction sites don't work is no one knows about them
---------

Groups are the future of online sales for individual sellers.

My Yahoo Group homepage gets 150 to 200+ hits per day and is growing.

One hit on one of my listings is some one selecting from 200+ titles.
I don't know how to compare that to a hit on a single title listed.

The same items listed on Yahoo Auctions get about 5 to 10 hits per day.

Unlike the "alternative" sites, people know about Yahoo Groups and
use them.
Yahoo Groups has traffic.

When sellers catch on to this, it will be like the floodgates opening.
---------

Even better.....You don't have the restrictions on Yahoo Groups.

You can link to stores, groups, websites, any where you want to link.

You can create multiple groups. You can list in your own group(s)
and list in groups created by other sellers.

You can copy and paste your website homepage right into Yahoo's
rich text editior when posting.

Very handy. When they click on your message listing, there is
your homepage with all the pics, descriptions, and links to your
website or store items.
---------

I like ebay for the exposure versus a regular website, but the fees are killing me.

More exposure on Yahoo Groups without the restrictions. 100% free.

Five minutes to create your group. Instant store. Posting to Yahoo
groups is very similar (almost identical) to posting on craigslist.

Post to groups created by other sellers to drive traffic to your group.

I've already has some success with my Google group , people are more keen on joining a Google Group then the bogus eBay newsletter/group!

Despite the traffic flowing past the eBay sign-up buttons , custom sign up page in my eBay store and links in my eBay invoices. People are far more welcome to join a opt-in and opt-out Group be it Yahoo or Google.

Google also has a nice button that can be posted on sites where peope just type in thier e-mail to sunbscribe , very handy !

I would also reccomend free online classfieds and not to forget local sites that sometimes drive more traffic and higher prices then eBay and without the fee's !

I say Yahoo auctions USA , and Tazbar are worth trying but the focus should be on your own site ,social networking like groups and free online classfieds

I like Google Groups but had a major set back when my Google
group quit functioning. No response from Google. Not even "sorry
we can't help you".

This is why I like groups. You can create multiple groups on different
sites, without relying on any one group.

Yahoo has always been my favorite. More traffic than MSN and Google
and I've had more sales on Yahoo Groups than all the "alternative"
sites combined.

I'm always looking for sites where you can build up membership
and improve your ranking in the search results. Sites such as
Squidoo. The site is painfully slow, but might be worth checking out.

I have heard that Yahoo Groups does have by far more traffic then most other Groups

Myspace has tons of traffic but one has to be discreet or they will have thier pages pulled

Google Groups I currently use since its streamlined into my other Google services and I have had alot of problems with Yahoo , but Yahoo Groups is currently the king of Groups.

I think almost as important as the traffic is Yahoo's search.

You can have 1 seller or 1,000 sellers listing items in a group and
the search will pull up listings in fractions of a second.

When sellers post comments like "I wish another site would come
along that could compete with eBay", it makes me shake my head.

Yahoo Groups has traffic (more than eBay stores), a flawless search,
ease of listing (almost identical to craigslist), total flexibility with few
restrictions for linking to websites, etc.

Yahoo Groups has it all. As good as it gets.
