April 2, 2007 -- PayPal, a subsidiary of online auction site eBay, has launched a new application package aimed at boosting the security and cost effectiveness of online payments for small and midsize businesses, the company said Monday.

Among other features, Website Payments Pro includes Express Checkout, Direct Payment API, and Virtual Terminal functions, which will enable online shoppers to choose how they pay for purchases, the company said. At the same time, Virtual Terminal allows businesses to accept orders offline by phone, fax, or mail, while directing payment processing to PayPal, the company said.

Well, that's one way to keep their hands in the pockets of fleeing merchants...get 'em to take a payment system when they go.

2CO costs a little more, but all of the data that I've read indicates that the increased sales from having your own merchant account more than supports the difference.

eBay and PayPal can keep their grubby-grabbers to themselves!

MoneyBookers has a merchant account system as well , although it can be more expensive then 2CO % depending on option the buyer uses.

Both are certainly is more secure on chargebacks then Paypal

I dunno but....I did get a spoof today on an email account that I've not used for PP for more than 5 years! They stopped 4 a while, and... they're back!

So - the only thing I can figure is....the old list got sold again to a new set of 'thieves'!!! Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad
